I am pessimistic that any country will be able to reduce carbon emissions and costs without increasing use of nuclear energy.
But Germany's move may be getting more press than it deserves.  They buy and sell electricity from all of their neighbors.  Germany also urged the whole EU to step back from nuclear, but not enough other countries agreed.  The EU as a bloc may make great progress even without Germanys help.

Nuclear is cleaner than anything we got so far. The environmental impact of solar panel waste, battery waste, and the waste produced manufacturing them has been conveniently ignored in this headlong rush to create a new economy of EV's. Also, the article refers to 'renewable energy'. This is an incorrect term. Its 'alternative energy'. We cant capture the same electromagnetic and heat energy tomorrow that we captured from the sun today. Lazy journalism, and that term needs to be retired. It's disingenuious.

Just a general comment: We need to throw a lot more people in jail.

Unfortunately, the political fad du jour is to empty out the jails.

Automatic 30 days in jail for every year a Congressperson is in office past the 1st term. Ups to 1 year in jail for every year after 10. For senators it's 1 year for every year after the first term. Presidents just get executed after their second term.

Pretty much exactly how Mexico does it. Works great, huh?

I would like to see politicians put in prison for failure to come through on policies that they ran on. If you're going to promise the American people something and they in turn, give you their vote, and you not fulfill, you need to be held accountable.

Of course there would be exceptions, like resistance from the opposing party.

I'd like to see him try that at any futbol championship game. He would get curb stomped by the crowd.

Throw them in jail.  I'm tired of this crap.

After what happened in Chicago the other night, that entire crowd should be in jail.  I think they only arrested about a dozen of them.

I am really really tired of this crap.  We need to throw a lot more people in jail.  Shoplifting, rioting, vandalism.  It's all over the place.  Why are these people not in jail?

If I ran for public office my slogan would be:  TRM: "We need to throw a lot more people in jail!"  I bet I'd get elected.

What happened in Chicago he other night?

A thousand people, mostly teenagers, went downtown and had a riot.  Jumping on cars, breaking windshields, assaulting tourists, and having fistfights.  You didn't read or hear about that?

Looks like you're right.  It did make the dispatch, though, I just didn't read it until this afternoon.
