You're saying in small towns people look out for each other, and someone is likely to chase you down and pull a gun on you if you try to rob a liquor store. And that's good. But we know Brunswick is a place where people are likely to chase you down if you look at a pile of construction materials too long. Even if you don't take any. Is it that second high school that causes us to cross that threshold from "good ol boys" to openly corralling and murdering joggers in broad daylight?

You suck at defending your piss poor arguments and you suck at this little schtick too. FYI I'm not going to keep stooping to this level, so I'll just ignore you moving forward if you are just attacking me instead of posting anything relevant. I'm sure you will claim it's misinformation because it's Bannon or not even watch it but you really should. They offered to share all of this before and did share it with the GBI but stuff was leaked and they stopped. No one wanted to touch it in MSM and the GBI and other agencies all tried to bury it or selectively leak info. This is one of the problems with MSM and liberals who only present/view their side. They can't see when they are being lied to or just don't care because the liberal viewpoint is best regardless of the truth. Sent from my SM-T970 using Tapatalk

I mean, if the analogy is akin to a person playing wall ball. If you want to be the wall, eventually I'll get tired and put the ball down. I wouldn't consider that a loss, though, since I'm the one getting better. I don't really know which argument you feel your "winning" here. Let me make it clear that I'm never attacking you personally. I insinuate plenty, certainly, but I do that for my own amusement. If you're feelings are getting hurt, I can certainly be more sensitve. Would you prefer that? I've told you before that if say you and then make mentions of moderates or liberals more broadly, I am attacking a position, not you as a person. You don't ever seem to make that distinction. Even when I intentionally don't mention you but speak to your point by addressing all moderates or liberals, you apply it to yourself. I have a problem with moderates, which I have said repeatedly. I have stated specific problems they cause, and I have encouraged the moderates here to challenge the information they are being fed. It's a perfectly rational position, and it works whether you're being lied to or being told the truth. If your solution starts and stops with the authorities, then progress is limited to that of the authorities. Knowledge is limited to that of the authorities. Morality is limited to that of the authorities. That's terrible, and if you don't want to have your world dictated by people you disagree with, you shouldn't advocate for it when your side holds power. Now, if this thread follows the other ones where I have been "beat down," you'll ad hominem either with conspiracy or whatever it is you use to dismiss my points. That's really not a loss to me. That's a lost cause. You can block me if you want, but I'll still point out where I think you are being hypocritical, and the only difference is you don't get the benefit of making a snide comment. Seems a bit ridiculous to me. By the way - the whole "some slaves were taught to be blacksmiths" narrative he's trotting out (while silly compared to the rape, torture, detainment, child separation etc) is actually even more silly when you learn that West African slaves who already knew blacksmithing actually brought previously unknown techniques to the states. Many of them were actually sent out to various other blacksmithing forges to teach their techniques.

Not about winning, I'm here to learn and discuss, but you continue to just fire blanks. Not my problem. I wish you were better at it so I didn't have to continue breaking down your errors in reasoning. It's tedious. From what I read somewhere else, these ‘benefits of slavery’ quotes are hyperbolized and the actual passages being targeted were written by black scholars.

Nothing in the curriculum says anything about "the benefits of slavery". There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. How would you describe skills learned as slaves that "could be used for personal benefit?" Quote:Florida's 2023 Social Studies curriculum will include lessons on how "slaves developed skills" that could be used for "personal benefit," according to a copy of the state's academic standards reviewed by CBS News. By the way, I'm unaware of the content of the VP's comments on the subject other than knowing she mentioned the new curriculum in a recent podium appearance. I merely described them as I've seen them described in 12 different headlines. I even put the quotes around the word to avoid this semantics roundabout.
Because slaves did develop skills. They had some of the fastest growing businesses after slavery was abolished... right up until the federal minimum wage law was passed to keep well established companies in positions of power. If the goal is to whitewash history, then, sure, be mad, but I don't think that's the goal of these new standards. I think the goal is to contextualize history.

Certain facts distract from that story. If you just say, "the slaves acquired skills" that makes it sound like it's a silver lining or even a positive thing. Especially when you consider Robert E Lee's letters, reflecting a common attitude at the time, that slavery was necessary to "educate" the slaves, that this "education" was somehow genetic and generational, and they would soon be "worthy" of freedom. Starts to make it sound like 250 years of slavery was done for the slave's benefit. This is a false conclusion obviously, and therefore any facts that might lead one to such a conclusion must be presented in a blanket of context or not at all. As for the federal minimum wage law, at that time, the average buyer of goods and services was racist and avoided doing business with black people unless the price was dramatically lower. The minimum wage did have that impact (if you believe Thomas Sowell, and I do) but it was not the problem. The racism was the problem.
