'Restaurant Language'

I don't know if it's just here or not but getting so tired of male servers call me chief or boss.  They call my wife ma'am.  What happened to sir?

More:

"How are we doing tonight/"

"How is our food?"

And my all time favorite...and it wasn't a one time thing.  "Get we get us something else tonight?"  What the [BLEEP] does that even mean?

When your server brings your steak and says, "Why don't you cut into that and tell me if it's ok."

I want to respond, "What am I, a trained dog doing tricks for you?  Go away, I'll cut into it when I'm good and ready."

But I don't because my wife is kicking me under the table.

So, I endure the stupid comment AND one to the shins.

I try to avoid steak when she's wearing anything with a pointed toe.
When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

If the server insists on 1st person plural, just be sure we all are splitting the check evenly.

I'd answer with a few questions - did you put my order in as I asked? Do you not trust the cook to prepare my steak as you entered it on the ticket?

Set the food down, check back in a minute.

People who choose ranch over bleu cheese... I'm not mad, but I'm judging your bad taste silently.

Absolutely. Ranch is not bad, just boring. I was weaned on bleu cheese.

I like to take bleu cheese dressing and add more bleu cheese to it.

Why are we using the French word for blue, by the way?  I went along because I didn't want to seem unsophisticated, but then I looked it up, and "bleu" is the French word for "blue."

It may be cliché to use French words and spellings while conversing in English, but I do not find it a faux pas.
Perhaps my Laissez-faire attitude toward such linguistic integrations may be seen as a grammatical gaffe by some, but I find the usage to be chic.

Not merely part of the décor ornamenting my correspondence, but deeper than that. Such musings speak to my inner joie de vivre.

My fiancée has accused me of attempting to disguise my humble roots with this verbal façade, however I've assured her that she's only experienced a mere aperitif while the entrée has not yet been served!

Bon appetit!!

I tend to be on the blue cheese wagon as well, except for when I'm at a place where they have really good ranch. Cruisers or Mojos here in Jacksonville, for example, have great ranch.

It’s stinky cheese based…it’s required that you use French in that case. Ninja

It's pronounced "bleh" that way.

It's more like "bluh."  Kind of in between "blur" and "bleh."
