Beathard will be in to clean up in the 4th Qtr.
In regards to Week 2, when you have The QB and The Coach, you should expect to win every game.

Hopefully he has a good outing Last season we had a 1,000 yard rusher, a 1,000 yard receiver, a record breaking TE, and Lawrence was one of the least sacked QBs in the league. In the regular season, Fornter snapped the football 1121 times in 2022 and had 4 penalties and gave up 1 sack. In the playoffs he gave up 1 sack. In 2022 Fortner had an approximate value of 8. 5 time pro bowler and 1 time All Pro Brandon Scherff also had an approximate value of 8 in 2022. Jawaan Taylor also had a 8. Tyler Shatley had a 6 AV. Walker Little had a 3 AV. Bartch was injured but had a 3 AV. To give some perspective on the approximate value, Vince Manuwai is considered one of the best guards in Jaguars history, he never had lower than a 6 but never higher than a 10. An AV of 8 is pretty good for an offensive lineman. LG Ben Coleman was with the Jaguars from 1995 to 1999, in 1996 he had an AV of 8, in 1997 he had a 10, in 1998 he had a 9, and in 1999 he had a 7. RT Leon Searcy had an 8,10,8,13 in the 4 years he was with the Jaguars. Boselli was on another planet with 1,11,15,15,16,11,1 (injured 1st and last season). The best center in Jaguars history is Brad Meester. He switched from guard to center in 2003 where he finished that season with an AV of 8. The next 2 seasons he had 7 AV. In 2008 and 2011 he had a 5, and he had a 6 for his last 2 seasons of his career. In his first season as the starting center, Meester allowed a half a sack and was called for 2 penalties. To say Fortner needs to play better, hell you can say that about any player in any sport.

Hopefully he has a good outing Fortner looked good at times but was way to inconsistent. He couldn't handle the top interior pass rushers and struggled. He was the 32nd ranked C and there are 32 teams in the league, that isn't good at all and thankfully Trevor got the ball out of his hands at the 3rd fastest rate among QBs, Fortner is one of the main reasons he had to get the ball out so fast. He was a rookie though so he gets a pass for last year. He definitely need to improve this year or we will be looking for another center in next year's draft https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-pff-center-...nfl-season
We need an all pro center that doesn’t get bad grades by guys that never laced up a pair of cleats.

I hope we're up this week. Doug's week starts tomorrow to prepare this team for the Week 1 game. Not that we haven't been preparing well before.

Fortner was pretty average to below average IMO. He was a rookie. I think his main thing needs to be to get stronger over time. In my untrained eye, Walker Little played much better than Fortner last year so having a lower AV just completely destroys the entire rating system.

Idk what AV is either, but pff has Fortner as 49.6 on the year, which is awful. Scherff, Bartch, and Little were all between 59 and 61, which ain’t good either… (09-04-2023, 09:43 AM)Hetfield Wrote:(09-03-2023, 09:48 AM)H8tank Wrote: In regards to Week 2, when you have The QB and The Coach, you should expect to win every game. It's Pro-Football Reference's Approximate Value rating. IDK how it is for other positions, but it's essentially useless for offensive lineman. For O-Lineman it's basically a snap count indicator, if they play the entire season they're guaranteed to have an AV in the 6-8 range no matter how good or bad they are, with PB and AP boosting the score up. Little only played 21% of the snaps, so his AV is going to be low no matter what, whereas Fortner played 100% of the snaps. We show less advertisements to registered users. All you had to do is watch the games last year to know Fortner struggled. Hopefully he is improved this year
Jagsfanatic showing how clueless he is again. Fortner looks like he's beefed up. His anchor and lack of strength was his biggest issue last year so hopefully an offseason in the weight room helps him out. Less than 1 week until meaningful football boys! Let's go!

NYC put style clips up showing what his biggest problems were, and it wasn't strength, it was awareness. The guy regularly let go of blocks too soon or didn't recognize what the defense was doing and let guys get free runs at Trevor. It might help him if he beefed up, but his biggest issues were between his ears. |
