When they ran the ball 26 times yesterday, again, I didn't get to watch the game. But, curious. Which side of the line did they favor with Etienne running attack wise?

I thought shatley looked ok-good at LG. I know people like to bring in pff grades and I don’t know where he sits on that spectrum but I thought from the eye test he filled the void well. By eye test I mean he didn’t stand out as a glaring hole so I am not worried about him filling that void in the absence of little. 

Honest question: why would we not put shatley at center and fortner at guard if he is as weak as people are claiming. I heard some people say fortner is a better guard than center, I just wonder if that move wouldn’t be beneficial. I know nyc is a big fortner defender so I’m curious to hear what he thinks.

They were mixing it up but the best run of the day was when Cam went down they ran to the left behind Hance and Shatley to ice the game for a TD

I am in that camp. As far as moving Fortner to Guard and Shatley to Center. He's more experienced as a Right Guard from his days at Kentucky. I read up on him. He played Center his last year in college and this is his 2nd year as an NFL Center. Maybe it's too much work on him. Finding the alignments, calling them out, snapping the ball and then getting in position to block.

At least at Guard it takes the mental aspect out of it a little bit to where you just focus on your gap. He looked lost at times last year as a rookie where he would snap it, look up, and not be engaging anybody. You should have your hands on somebody at all times as an offensive lineman. If you look up and nobody is there? You [BLEEP] up on something.

I'm a Fortner basher. (nothing personal of course - seems like a good dude) I really hoped he'd round into form this year, but he looks worse unfortunately. 

Depending on healthy options available for LT/LG I wouldn't mind seeing Shatley try playing center some. (again)

I wouldn't bother putting Fortner at guard though. I'd just bench him if there are other options available. 
Never seen him play guard at this level, and no idea if it will help, though it's conceivable. Watching him get beat with almost every textbook move this year doesn't give me much confidence he'll benefit much from not snapping the ball, but I could def be wrong. 

Best case scenario is Cam/Little/Shatley/Scherff/Harrison if all are healthy enough. 

Hance could figure in if Cam or Little can't go.

Hance is our utility lineman. The reason when they first cut him so they could put players on IR(return) a few of us were worried someone else would pick him up before could get him back.

That is what I am thinking as well as best case scenario. The only thing I can think for why they have been apprehensive to do it is because of how versatile shatley is as a back up with his abilities to back up seemingly every position on the offensive front. But even that to me is not a good enough reason to not start a player who is better than someone else at a given position.

I think shatley is a stop gap at center but from what I can remember, he was more serviceable than fortner. I would be interested to see what fortner looks like at guard I just don’t know if I’d be willing to test that out in regular season scenario when [BLEEP] ups matter. This is something I would have thought would have been attempted in preseason if this was in fact an alternative.

This game should be NFL football 101.

On Defense:  Stop the run no matter who the running back is.  Force them into 3rd and long situations.  Get after the QB (probably Minshew) and make him uncomfortable.  Force bad passes and get the turnover.

On Offense:  Establish the run and keep pressing it.  Get the ball to the playmakers with short quick passes.  Limit the "home run" deep balls and don't force it if it isn't there.  Just focus on moving the chains.

Looks like it will be. I can think of a few posters on here who will be dying for Minshew to win this one. Colts have looked pretty good so far and will be a tough game but these are the games we need to let the rest of the division know who the Champs currently are.

Get the W, go to 4-2 and get ready for TNF at New Orleans.

At this point, Minshew is a better QB than Richardson but he’s pretty conventional so should be easier to defend. Probably wouldn’t make as many mistakes. This game is huge.

Yeah I agree. Minshew is efficient. He'll find the open 7 yard pass. He'll have a high completion percentage and will try to eliminate risk. Nothing wrong with that and if we struggle to stop the Colts run game then Minshews style can cause us problems. We need to be able to score early and build a lead and try and get the Colts throwing and then we can start to make plays.

The Colts are playing well and beat some tough teams already. I'm sure their record in Duval will be something they'll use as momentum and we are the South Champs, they'll want to knock us off. Their D line caused us plenty of problems Week 1 but this is a game we need to cut out the errors and leaving points out on the field and play a clean game and make them earn it.

Number 1 priority on D is stopping the run as the Colts have a very good run game and 2 really good backs. On offense I think Trevor has his best game in the air this season and puts up over 300 yards and 3 TDs and takes advantage of the Colts corners.

I like this matchup for the Jags. This run defense has been very stout this year. I would like to see the team shut down the run and put the whole game on Minshew's shoulders.

I like putting the offense out there to start games and put together a drive and settle in quick. Let the defense come out aggressive and make the opponent start doubting.

They had a season highlight rushing the ball, and I think we've defended the run pretty well this year. Minshew gets happy feet and we have to make it uncomfortable for them and it starts by playing with a lead.
