Josh Allen - Deal or No Deal (Done Deal!)

It's possible they offered him something good but he thought he could do better.

Either way he can't be allowed to just walk out the door without compensation.

Franchise and trade him for a Kalil Mack type deal or sign him long term.

Josh Allen is an important part of our championship run. Nucleus of the defense, build around and lets go.

He gets a deal. Not even a question

Dude, having Allen and Walker together for several years would be so sweet...

There are certain pieces you have to pay for and certain peices you can re-draft fairly easily.

Baalke really needs to get the financing together.  There are going fan favorites we will inevitably have to let go to get their bag elsewhere.  But I'm not sure Allen is one of them, anymore.  He's really coming on strong.

Idk who all is going to have to leave on 41’s account but I’ll pack their bags.

Honestly may be Ridley.

Yep. I was always worried with the not-finishing outside a few games a year where he would stadpad those sack numbers, having PTSD flashbacks to the days of signing Reggie Hayward, Aaron Kampman, Chris Clemons, and Jason Babins of the world who could generate pressure but just couldn't finish in Jacksonville.

Allen has assuaged those fears this year. Have to hope it's not a contract-year situation but I don't see how a team lets a guy playing like Allen has been walks, especially after today's game.

What a beast mode game wrecking maniac.

Allens production against the run and the pass; and continued improvement warrants it. He needs 2 more to break the single season sack record and theres still 6 games left with easier opportunities on the schedule.

Not to mention, his influence on Travon Walker's growth would be a compounding effect. Having a vet with proven production in house as an example for him to follow will only help him develop and realize his potential.

If Allen wants that 20 million plus i'd give him that; this team was starved of a pass rusher since Brackens left and it would suck to see us handicap ourselves in a championship window over cost when we FINALLY have someone that can pressure the QB.
Championship Formula:

1) Draft Trevor Lawrence!
2) Play good physical Defense!
3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy!
4) ???
5) Blank #2
6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

If he just walks out the door it would be fireable offense for the GM. Have to get a deal done or franchise him. Him over Ridley all day.

I think if we could get even some mid-level pass rushers opposite of him, we'd have like 60 or so sacks this season. Its just all our pass rush outside of Allen are fairly terrible.

I think Ham is the difference here. If he were healthy and collapsing the middle, QBs would be sliding into the outside rush more often.  Our outside guys are having to do all of the heavy lifting. You'll notice right now that a lot of the times that Allen or Walker are getting pressure RRH or Gotsis are getting into the backfield as well.

Playing with leads helps, too, and we don't often end up with multiple-score leads that force teams into obvious passing situations. Walker is growing, just not incrementally fast as we'd all like to see out of a top pick. If Allen stays on this trajectory, though, Walker will have plenty of shots to do his own damage.

The quote about passing Yan on the all-time sack list was significant. He wants legacy here. Granted, money will buy away a lot of regret if you don't get to the top of the team's sack list, ,but I  truly think he wants to be here and wants to bring the wins here. I don't see him chasing a paycheck and turning into Who Douglas. At all.

Spoiler: Even if you signed him last year, he's still getting more expensive. We'd just be on the hook for an extension sooner.

We pressured Stroud 21 times yesterday, his career high. Wonder how many Allen himself got, has to be close to 10.

Think it was a career high for him as well in pressures in a single game. 12 or something like that.

Yes - that's what I saw on twitter. Someone posted it here as well.

Actually, the Jags are tagging Ridley because their trade with the Falcons includes a 2024 3rd round pick but translates into a 2nd round pick IF the Jags strike a long term deal with Ridley prior to the draft.    As such, the Jags strategy is to tag Ridley and only give up a 3rd round pick and then sign Ridley to a long term deal after the draft if possible.

Ideally yes, Ive been saying this.  Tag Ridley and resign Allen to a long term deal if they want to keep Ridley which I hope they do. It just depends on what they are asking for

That makes sense. The team does need to keep Ridley and being able to keep the 2nd round pick is important (unless they mess it up like last season). I believe Ridley would be amenable to signing a long term deal after that at a fair price based on the market value of number 1 receivers.

The rest of the year sets up well for Allen in regards to opponents
Hes going to make a run at a 20 sack season if Walker continues his play and the interior picks up its play
