The deficiencies with the team became apparent pretty early on in the season and coupled with all the injuries late in the year the combination proved to be insurmountable. Whether a head or two rolls this offseason as a result remains to be seen, but I have no doubt that the interior of both lines will be addressed in a significant way in free agency and/or the draft no matter who is making those decisions. FWIW I don't think Baalke is fired, but I think his seat is boiling lava hot next year only to be potentially cooled by early season success and that the apparent holes have been sufficiently filled. Yes, we were picking first overall two years ago and we are now 1 game over .500. That's not a miracle in the NFL. Do you what happened to the team that picked #2 in the draft that year? They are the #3 seed in the NFC playoffs this year. Do you know what happened to the team that picked #3 in the draft that year? They are the #4 seed in the AFC playoffs. NFL stands for "Not For Long". If you have access to a franchise quarterback, a ton of salary cap space, and a bunch of extra draft picks including multiple extra early round draft picks, elevating a team to hovering around .500 after two years is not that much of a miracle. The Panthers once went from picking #2 overall to the Super Bowl in two years. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

What do we think if this happens? I would like it.
No Fun

These differences in philosophy, and stubborn advocacy, need to get aired out so a consensus can be reached. I don't know how deeply Khan gets involved in these discussions, but he needs to step up and lead this. If he has to override Doug, then so be it. He also needs to tell Baalke that he drafts like [BLEEP] and should accept more input from inside and outside sources or hit the road. Khan doesn't need to be involved all the time, but this dysfunction is going to continue until his F.O. personnel are working on the same page, which requires him to make his expectations clear. But therein lies the problem. Khan is an engineer and an industrialist, not a consensus builder of driven competitive personalities. Plus, he isn't really a "football guy". This is an expensive hobby for him. Regardless, he must be a stronger influence. I feel we're close to the right recipe. Get everyone from Khan down to Trevor agreed on who he's comfortable with, make the appropriate staff (AND OFFENSIVE LINE) adjustments, and get back in the groove. I'm not really worried about the defense. It's full of capable players and I think they'll land a good DC. Fingers crossed, hopes up, and looking forward to a much better season. I think this coming year is going to be much better.

Considering Dilla claims Trevor doesn't like Press. Is his source Shad or Trevor?
If not, it's just office gossip. (01-11-2024, 12:46 AM)NYC4jags Wrote:He works at Target (no. People used to speculate he was buds with Tony Khan but he will never reveal who his source is (obviously). He had the Ridley trade before anyone. His biggest miss was Leftwich but like you said, he’s generally got good sources. It's good to see and hear these discussions are happening. It shows that people care. Khan tried to find the right man for the job to lead his organization. For a brief moment in the sun, it appeared he had done that when he hired on Tom Coughlin at a VP level to oversee the team. Maybe because of the bad PR and players union issue with Coughlin it's deterred him from trying this route again, but, I honestly think he should consider it within this month or next month. There's viable candidates out there for sure if he's just willing to look, make contact and offer an opportunity. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? How wild is that? I would offer him a VP of Football Operations job without blinking. I don't think he's a good GM but I think he would offer valuable insight to Khan in this role and hold people accountable. Wouldn't hurt getting an NFL rules book guru in the building as well who knows how to game the system. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie?
