LIV won’t last much longer. Its premise was compete with the PGA but that won’t happen with the merger. In essence, the PGA bought their competitor to put them out of business.

My guess is the PGA will offer LIV players an opportunity to return to the PGA if they pay a fine and kiss Jay Monahan’s a… er, ring.

I agree.

Hope you’re right. Used to be a huge golf fan…LIV has tarnished the sport a bit for me. Still follow the majors and love going to TPC but don’t follow the regular events the way I used to.

And he broke off his engagement with Caroline Wozinacki with a three minute phone call 3 days after sending out wedding invitations. Caroline Wozniacki! A smart, gorgeous, talented, free spirited Dane. He's a moron and a cad.

Tiger had surgery on his ankle earlier this year and he says it was a success. I believe him. He's walking, moving and swinging with more of his old grace and power than I've ever seen since his accident. His claim now is he should be able to play one tournament a month. That's good news.

I think the governing bodies are being very foolish.  The average player has a problem with not enough distance, not too much distance.   It doesn't take effect for the general public until 2030, and by then they will probably have amended it so the average player isn't affected.  Golf is financially supported by millions of weekend hackers and retirees who are the source of most of the money spent on clubs, balls, and lessons.  Reining in the golf ball for those people will only increase their frustration with an already very frustrating game.

And it may be all for naught as far as the pros are concerned.

I was a fan of bifurcation, but seems that OEMs are concerned at the cost. How about just make the TOUR players start paying for balls like us regular joes?

Pretty impressive for a 14-year-old.  His high school coach said he can hit his driver about 280, but when he really swings hard, he can go over 300.

I really hope Charlie can make it. I know early indications are that he is nowhere near as good as Tiger at this age, but man, what a great story it would be if it he could make it pro one day and win some majors. Golf needs it right now given all the negative stuff going on.

That's a good article.  I remember when he disappeared, and the talk was that he quit for the $10 million in insurance money.  I wonder, if he has to pay it back, will he have to pay interest on it?  After all, the insurance company did not have use of that money for the past decade.  At 5% interest compounded annually, it would be $17 million.

I've always wondered if his quitting had something to do with drugs.  I don't see how anyone would give up a career like he had for any other reason.

I don’t think it was drugs. I’ve never seen anything which pointed in that direction. My take has always been that as injuries began to slow him down, he decided to game Lloyd’s of London rather than suffer financially as his golf earnings dwindled away.

Given his personality, I think he’s perfect for LIV. Plus, they have the means and willingness to settle his insurance debt to bring him on board. Hopefully Rahm’s team picks him up.

Since this is the PGA thread, I thought I'd post this press conference by a PGA professional.

Today I learned about golf counting beads. I looked it up and it’s a real thing.

I think LIV might get some traction with this feud between Matthew Wolf and Brooks Koepka. Until yesterday, Wolf was on Koepka's team, and Koepka obviously didn't like something about him, saying he had "given up on him."

Now Wolf has been traded to a new team, and yesterday he shot a great score. So, if Wolf thrives on a new team, this may give LIV golf the shot in the arm it badly needs, and persuade more people to tune in for the interpersonal drama.
