Anyone else addicted to watching movies and shows with Closed Caption on, so you can listen and read along at the same time?

You pick up on more detail, pronunciations and such..

Pretty cool and you should try it, if you don't do it already.

We started this once we had kids.

When they were awake, random loudness or general hustle and bustle made it easier to keep up with dialog than to depend solely on ears.
When they were asleep, we could lower volume to audible levels but not so loud as to disturb slumber.

They're both older now, but we still swear by captions. I wish sports bars and public places would enable captions if they are going to broadcast screens, especially if they are muting the feed or displaying multiple feeds at once.

And as Marty said, one of my joys in consuming entertainment is laughing at the botched attempts at system-generated captions.

Yeah the errors can be bad on certain networks. The one's that I've found with the least errors are HBO/Max, Peacock and Hulu.. Netflix is probably the best for CC in my opinion with Paramount+ being the worst.

Then we watched "The Family Plan" on Apple TV+. Same old same old. Plot that's been done a dozen times already. Funny in places. 1-1/2 stars out of 4.

Yep, i keep cc on 95% of the time.  This stemmed from watching a lot of foreign films but has migrated to US films simply because some actors/actresses are hard to understand.   This especially holds true when watching porn.  Sometimes you just can't understand the verbiage and have to rewind to get the full context and understanding of the movie.

Last night we watched "CODA." It's a heartwarming comedy/drama. It won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2022.

Been working on grueling proposals so i kept it light the past 2 nights and watched Queen Pins (Coupon Scandal) and then Dirty Money (Gamestop Stock) --- gotta admit both were pretty good and very light if you just want to drink without thinking.

We saw "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" last night, on Amazon Prime. It's one of the best movies I've seen recently.

We watched "Killers of the Flower Moon" on Apple TV+.  Really great movie.  Very long: 3-1/2 hours.  I give it 4 stars out of 4. 

Then we watched "The Family Plan" on Apple TV+.  Same old same old.  Plot that's been done a dozen times already.  Funny in places.  1-1/2 stars out of 4.

I hated killers of the flower moon! Absolutely no payoff in the end I was like what the hell! Ugh just hated it

Me and hubby watched Point Break the other night. He'd never seen it. He mentioned the remake and I told him that thing is an abomination. Hollywood needs to leave well enough alone.

I watched the movie Network last night. I had not seen it in ages. Peter Finch as Howard Beale was incredible. William Holden in his waning day played a good part, but his romance with a so much younger Faye Dunaway was a little creepy. This was Peter Finch's last movie appearance. He died not long after. 

Watch this acting by Peter Finch as he plays Howard Beale in the throes of losing his mind. The way the director plays the light across his left eye while it remains open and distant while he talks and expresses with his brows is movie brilliance.

That's part of a trip of movies that an older friend recommended to me as prophetic for the times we are in today. The other two are Face in the Crowd and Being There.  

Of the three the only one I really liked was Face in the Crowd.  Apparently that role was Andy Griffith's big break.

The only new movie I've seen in the last few months is Wonka. Me, the wife, and the kids all loved it. Very heartfelt performances, and a bit of a Harry Potter type feel added to it.

My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

Has anyone ever seen Ravenous? It's like a campy horror movie set back in the day and swept up in a Native American belief of the Wendigo mythology.

I was obsessed with it one summer as a kid when it was on cable. The soundtrack always pulls me in but the story is good. Guy Pearce is a bit of a cowardly soldier that redeems himself in the end and Robert Carlyle does a good job as the bad guy.

Pretty funny but intimidating at the same time. Carlyle was great in Trainspotting as well.

Yeah Being There is definitely a slow-moving, kind of hypnotic movie.  Has a similar vibe to Ghost World.  Draws you in but puts you to sleep at the same time, in a sort of uncanny way.
