I went to the Riley Patterson thread asking if we should resign him and it was closed for some reason. But yes, he has been resigned

Jags should keep both kickers, use paterson for FGS closer then 30 yards ,and mcnanues for ones that are 46 yds or over.

Which player or from which position are you going to sacrifice on your 53 man roster to maintain two kickers on it? ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Wake me if Patterson ever figures out how to kick off to the back of the endzone into a mild breeze
He's a non-starter for me otherwise
A fanbase like ours that is so quick to make excuses for poor play disregarding the fact that McManus missed multiple FGs in 15-20 mph winds is crazy.

mcnanus missed a lot of fgs this season,he was also part of the reason we went on such a downfall ,the whole team fall apart ,and he missed kicks that werent affected by the wind as well. i know kickers miss sometimes, but not that much all the time so it costs you a game or 2.

Patterson is the back up plan I'd imagine. Free agency and in this case futures contracts are about plugging holes so you don't HAVE to take a specific position of need at a specific point in the draft. If you go into the draft and you absolutely HAVE to take position X (regardless of player) at pick number XX, you failed somewhere along the way leading up to the draft. There will very likely be another kicker brought in either in free agency and/or the draft though.

HOMEWORK TIME! Go look up and report back the following: How many misses did he have? How far were those misses? How does that compare to Patterson? How many games were lost because we missed MAKEABLE attempts? You might be surprised what a little bit of research will reveal. (Hint: 6 of his 7 misses were over 50yds. his shortest miss was from 48. Patterson? 30/35 the year prior with 1 miss inside the 40 and 3 more inside the 50.) Many of McManus' misses were taking a chance on a kicker with a leg (again, Riley only kicked 3 attempts over 50!) rather than punt away for zero points. Sorry to poop on your parade. Only one I can think was Cincy but it was literally the play after we all though Trevor had a season ending injury, team included. The entire spirit of the team left at that point. I'm fine riding with McManus, he had a bit of a slump, as did the entire team. It happens sometimes.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

You don't [BLEEP] need a different kicker for 30 yard field goals. This is about the dumbest thing we've ever discussed here and that is saying something significant.
