Also have to wonder if the team will factor in the versatility (if you call it that) of Little/Cleveland where they can play G or T (along with Blake Hance) and looking to draft/develop another pure T vice paying Cam 20 million. I love Cam's nastiness, but that dollar amount doesn't justify the expediture

We have the same WRs we had the year we made the playoffs plus Gabe Davis. Kirk has shown in our system he can put up the same numbers Ridley did last year. Zay and Davis are capable of putting up 700+ and 7 TDs and we still have Engram. People need to stop acting like we just lost Chase or Jefferson.

It’s clear they’ve botched the Josh Allen and Ridley situation. Traded a 3rd rounder for a 1 year rental of Ridley only to see him walk in FA. Brilliant! This has less to do with Ridley and more to do with his roster building. He has wasted away the rookie contract years of Trevor. Once they pay him, they will have to rely on good drafting (hahahaha with Baalke?!) and savvy FA moves (hahahaha with Baalke?!)

And I’m sure Baalke would have found a way to lose Jefferson or Chase.

That one year rental of Ridley was the difference between being in playoff contention week 18 or not.  The injuries to Kirk and Zay would have made the team utterly irrelevant if not for Ridley.  I don't know that there was any better way to buy that type of injury insurance, even though it was only for 1 season.

Has it been reported anywhere that Allen was seeking a deal last year and Baalke thumbed his nose at him?

Lastly, a bigger bodied receiver helps us more I think. We had no problems moving up and down the field last year or the year before. It was the red zone and short yardage that were our biggest challenges. A bigger body will help more in the redzone. Gabe is somewhat of a bigger body, but he's not a well rounded receiver. He does a couple of things well and is a deep threat. I wouldn't pay trade comp and pay Tee a mega deal. I'd kick the tires on Mike Williams or I'd look to the draft for that bigger bodied guy. Allen's camp very well could have planned the long game for his contract negotiation from the outset -  and signing a deal after 2022 would not have maximized their deal. Can't assume they'd have played ball then or over the last few weeks. Waiting - had it truly been their plan - has proven to be the wise choice and Allen's $$ has gone up because they waited. 
His agent is one of the most respected in the business from what I read. Wouldn't shock me if he indeed encouraged Allen to wait. 

Gabe Davis suits the X position better than Ridley does on paper. I don't know if he's a 1000 yard receiver on this team, but he should produce. He's just got to be enough of a threat to let Kirk and Zay cook most of the time.

I'm guessing this has thrown a spanner in the works with what the plan was. My first hope is they don't panic and make a rash decision to try and 'fix' it. There are a few guys available like Williams and Renfrow was released today. 

Higgins would be very welcome but it's going to probably cost our 1st rounder or like 2 2nd's as i think the Bengals want one more shot with what they have right now. If we do make a move then we'd have to sort a new contract straight away so I guess the question is do you get a better WR than Higgins at #17? Obviously if you draft a WR you have 4-5 years of a rookie contract but there is the unknown factor.

I'm guessing the plan was to get Ridley and use the draft elsewhere but I wonder what they'll do now. We have the money they were planning for Ridley to make some moves with.

This is where I’m at wit it. Kirk, Zay, Engram, and Etienne has proven they can be a top 10 scoring offense. When they are all on the field together, they are a problem for any defense in the league. 

There was no way under the sun the Jaguars were going to afford Cam Robinson, Josh Allen, Christian Kirk, and Calvin Ridley with Trevor Lawrence’s contract looming.

With a possible breakout season for a guy like Tyson Campbell, who could have a pro bowl type season in 2024, who is capable of having a big year just like Allen did.

With Ridley gone, it could make room for a guy like Elijah Cooks.

When it comes to free agency yes I have some faith in him as a lot of the guys he's gotten have contributed. I remember a lot of people think very little of Williams when he was signed and no one expected Zay, Kirk, or Engram to have the season they did their first year, Oluokun has been great, Jenkins had his moments. His issue has been the draft and that's a big issue to have.

As for Josh Allen how is some of the blame for him not signing not on him and his camp and all on Baalke? Their asking for 30 mil a year and players who have been far more consistent than him have only gotten 25-27 mil a year this cycle.

It's extremely unlikely that the FO was aggressive towards getting a deal with Allen last offseason since he was coming off back to back 7 sack seasons. They likely wanted to see some elite production from him, and they are paying for it. If anything they likely threw him a lowball offer, in which Allen chose to bet on himself. It's my opinion and speculation, but the only reason we are in this position is because it all circles back to Allen and that's a fact. It's going to be a complete DISASTER if Allen chooses to go the Ramsey route and complain of "back pain" all year and wants nothing to do with the Jags moving forward, because that's where this looks like this train is heading.

The Jaguars will not be eligible because they signed 4 new players earning in the top 35% of the league while losing only 2 such players to free agency (they cut more but cutting doesn't count for this)  You have to lose more players than you sign.

Then, if a team qualifies, they assign the picks based on the money totals.  The amount of money the Jags spent on Davis or the amount of money the Titans are spending on Ridley would only factor in if Jags lost more players as free agents or gained fewer players.

Basically the way to get a compensatory selection is to keep your high dollar guys through the end of their contracts and then lose them, not cut them early.

Baalke is reactionary rather than proactive in his roster building.

This team has very few true young building blocks. Travon, Trevor and Anton. That might be it. Maybe Cisco, Campbell, Lloyd but that’s it. He is so bad at drafting that every couple years, they have to repatch his FA acquisitions. Get Rayshawn? 2 years later get Savage. Get Darious? 2 years later get Darby. Where are all the young building block contract extensions? Oh that’s right…. They botched it with Josh Allen because they wanted to probably save a few million. 

And I think my #1 issue is how this all plays into a Trevor extension. Why on earth would he re sign here with Baalke? It’s going to end up like Matt Stafford in Detroit.
