So they were still gonna go after Armstead even if they got Ridley. Manipulate the cap a little bit

3 years for $51M on Armstead. Not bad.

Well with another kersploosh like that, we're not getting a comp pick next year for Ridley. I'm not mad about that, but let's get that notion out of our heads.

Armstread was released so he doesn't factor into the comp pick equation.  It's only UFAs lost and signed whose contracts expired at the end of the league year.

Yup, same with Morse

That works both ways?  I can see why it works that way for the 49ers who released him, but he's then a free agent like any other for the signing team, no?

Lol, He thinks* key word.  Do you have a reliable source?  Rickey is the one that called  a number of FA signings this year.  It's been years since Dilla has called one.

With Aiyuke following a number of Jags and Trev following him back he should definitely be in play

Yes, only certified free agents gained and lost.

Don’t want any more FA or trades after Armstead.  Time to draft and develop.

I think the Armstead acquisition gives us a lot of flexibility with our first pick.  Really hoping for IOL or WR, although I wouldn’t be upset with another DL, edge or CB.  No matter who, want to see someone that is a day one starter and impact player.

Wonder what the trade comp would be? Probably our first.

Blessing Ridley went to TN, this is the perfect scenario.

Exactly what I was thinking.  Essentially a trade of Armstead for Ridley straight up except no it wasn't because Ridley would have cost 1.5x more. The tacks are paying as much for Ridley as we are for Armstead and Morse.

Sorry haters, Baalke's been on his game during free agency, and I'm no longer buying the "waaaaa just wait he'll screw up the draft!!" line.

Armstead is now our 2nd highest rated player on PFF from last year behind Allen

Armstead is an incredible signing. Baalke can’t draft to save his life, but is very good in FA

Armstead……reading the Niners’ message board they’re not disappointed he’s leaving. The general consensus is that he’s well on the downside of his career and constantly injury prone. Typical Jag move……overpay an aging player coming to enjoy retirement in Florida. The list of such player signings here is lengthy.

I still think we look IDL or IOL in the draft rounds 1-2. Maybe look CB or OT if the IDL/IOL candidate just isn't there. Trenches remain priority numero uno.
