Never claimed it was accurate, bozo. Just passing the info along. What is accurate is the long history this team has of giving big contracts to over-the-hill players who come to Jax to retire.

I’m a bozo and you use it to ‘support’ your statement of signing over the hill players who come to Jax to retire.  LOL.  What a nitwit.

The number of Jags espousing hate for Baalke that also were pleading for him to sign a man corner, a center, and an interior DL two weeks ago are making me laugh right now.

If he gets Allen's deal sorted and finds three good players in the draft, yall better start loving to hate the guy, LOL

Well his raise came in the form of state taxes there vs. here.

Do you think he has the ability to find 3 good players in the draft?

Baalke is good in FA but dreadful in the draft and I would like my GM to know how to build a roster through drafting and re signing their own.

The goal posts move constantly.  The hate must be allowed to flow.

Yup, but was it only about money or would he also rather be on Jax than SF?

Doesn't really matter unless he shows up unmotivated and mentally checked out or injured.  As was mentioned, Baalke drafted him and now signed him as a free agent.  Say (or make up) what you will about Baalke's relationship with players (which has been opined around here more than once), but I'd bet Armstead has an appreciation for him.

Initial impression is that this was a great signing. Armstead had one of his best seasons in 2023-24 and is a legitimate pass rusher from the inside. There are many similarities to this signing to when Calais was signed in 2017. Both guys are physically massive, were brought here at age 30 and are bonafide great guys and leaders. Calais had a combined 31.5 sacks in his 3 years with the Jaguars. If Armstead is able to come close to replicating this number, the Jaguars should be in very good shape moving forward.

If someone told you in 2019, that players from NE, BAL, BUF and 49ERS would come to JAX and they would be happy to do it, and not just for the money, some because of the coach, others the locker room, but all believing that we can win, would you believe ?

So, I’m the nitwit, huh? Do these names ring a bell for you?  Jared Odrick, 2015, 5 years, $42.5 million. Released in 2017, never played another down in the NFL again. How about Hugh Douglas? 2003, 5 years, $27 million……played one year in Jax, later admitted he “ stole “ the money from the Jags. Or how about Aaron Kampman? 4 years, $25 million…..played 2 years, was cut, never played another down in the NFL. Then there was Jerry Porter…..6 years, $30 million. Cut after one season. Nick Foles, 2019, 4 years, $88 million…..played FOUR GAMES.  I could go on and on with the list. I guess you can’t fix stupid, huh?

Stranger things have certainly happened than Aiyuk coming to Jacksonville. While I wouldn't part with a first round pick, a general manager who may feel the need to win NOW would find this move very appealing. I wouldn't hate it since Aiyuk is very young, but would prefer a potential shut-down corner like Wiggins or Mitchell in the first and the best available receiver in round 2 (Coleman, Franklin, Wilson or Pearsall).

If he leans defensively this year? I think so.

Odds are he goes CB or EDGE at 17.
Odds are he goes DT or EDGE at 46.

I think we might see a WR taken in RD3 or RD4. It's not popular. I know.

But, he'll probably go after a guy like Johnny Wilson, Javon Baker, Ja'Lynn Polk or Jalen McMillan.

We've had our share, but I bet you if you went through every team's free agent signings over the last 20 years you'd find many similarly embarrassing lists.

Let's go get Bud Dupree and call it a day

I'd rather draft an edge. Waiting for Cam Robinson or RRH to be cut/traded to make room.

Neither should be cut imo.    We don't know when Cam or Amstead will be down a game or two (or 3) due to injury.   They are both valuable depth.
Black Jaguar: Yeah, it's a thing.

It was always the Jags!!!!

Signing Dupree wouldn't stop me from drafting one.  We drafted one last year.  I want a vet pass rusher that can help day 1.  Dupree also played for Nielsen last year so I think it would be a good fit.

Agreed, one of our tackles get hurt every year and RRH would be a 12 mil dead cap hit and he's the only good player we have on the dline right now for depth.

That makes 6 FA signed and 1 trade. 7 total. As of now. More could come before the draft.
