If the news causes you this much distress then maybe don't watch it unless it's local. This from a 'Letters to the Editor' I read today.
Link I am a lifelong Democrat. I have lived through/with six Republican presidents: Nixon, Ford, Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Trump. With all of the prior Republican presidents, I never had to watch the news throughout the day, but that all changed with the Trump presidency. Every day, I turned on the news to see what “craziness” might have happened over the night or during the day. Sadly this took my focus off my family, friends and my daily life. The rest of the letter is in the link. Anything in the news that causes you to take your focus off of your family, friends and daily life should make you consider your priorities. Find another way to stay informed. Nothing in the news is worth trading in your mental health or your friends and family. If you choose to make this your focus then that's on you, not on the news. |
