Here we go ..... he's a rich white golfer so of course he didn't assault an officer. So, are you stating the police are lying about the situation and the resulting charge? If his action didn't constitute an assault, by the laws of the land, then why was he charged with assault? I'm assume the charges will be dropped or lessened as they typically are when wealthy people are involved but it doesn't mean the law wasn't broken in that manner. Question: If YOU broke the law in a relatively minor manner such as violating a traffic flow that was set up by the police, then the police grabbed onto Your car, would you stop of keep going? A man is charged with assaulting a police and 2 posters come to the defense of the charged person stating he didn't assault the police. There was no video released showing the incident, so I'm honestly wondering how the you and Marty came to your conclusion that there was no assault, and if you think its ok to take the same action that Scheffler has been reported to have taken. That's not politics, it's simply questioning the actions of an athlete as we quite often do on various sections of this board.

on a side note, it has just been reported that Scheffler actually broke out of jail earlier this morning and a manhunt has been deployed over the past 3 hours to locate him. the local news channel is urging the general public to call the Kentucky State Police if they see him.

One thing that you will hear from just about anyone that knows him is that Scheffler is a great golfer and an even better person.(05-17-2024, 01:01 PM)HURRICANE!!! Wrote: What make you say that. All I heard was from another journalist that was there. Since Scotty was in a tour car one officer directed him to go around. He passed another SUV and a second officer yelled at him. Scotty continued on at idle speed with the other officer yelling. Once he understood the second cop wanted him to stop he did. When he rolled the window down (makes sense him not hearing) the officer order him out of the car. While Scotty was opening the door the officer reached trying to pull him out. Once out he was pushed pretty hard into the car and handcuffed. There were reporters present and at least one was rebuffed by the police. If there is video is unknown. The Louisville police is not commenting as they are "gathering" information. Code words for we messed up and how can we exit this mess without egg on our face. Stay tuned ... be a long time before the golfers come back to this town.

I wonder if we'll see any 'White Golfers Matter' T shirts in the crowds over the weekend.

The fact that he went out and shot 66 after getting released from jail is pretty remarkable.
"Assaulting a police officer" makes it sound like he walked up and punched out a police officer. From what I understand, one officer waved him through, which happens at a lot of golf events when players are stuck in traffic, then another officer told him to stop, but he continued, and the second officer grabbed his door handle and got dragged a little way before Scheffler stopped. There's no way Scheffler would intentionally assault a police officer. Scheffler was asked if he ever name-dropped himself (I'm Scottie Scheffler, number one golfer in the world, etc) and he said, no, all he said was "I'm trying to get to my tee time." I'm sure that when this goes away a lot of people will want to point to some sort of "rich man's privilege" or some other sort of privilege, but the fact is, in a situation like this, anyone who has decent legal representation and no prior arrests would have this all go away. He has to deal with the press and fill a report out on this. He has to answer questions like why one guy says go and another not to. How and why one of his officers would "attached" himself to a moving car. It is a good thing Andy makes Barney Fife keep his one bullet in the top pocket and not in his gun. The cop may have shot himself in the foot.

We aren't dealing with the best and brightest here. The Breonna Taylor event will come back into light. Scotty's press conference screamed "lawyer talk". He will likely sue, as he should.

I dunno, probably because he didn't have any stop sticks to place in the front of the car? I agree the cop over reacted causing his own injury. Scotty did not cause that. It will be interesting to see what prosecutor and judge want their name attached to this one. I mean a thinking person would understand Scotty was going INTO the course , a dead end trapping himself. The issue the police have is there are quite a few witnesses (reporters) that saw it a bit differently than what is on the police report. I would bet dollars to doughnuts the cop was not wearing his body cam or had it turned off. That is par for the course in Louisville. The last Chief of police was fired due to it.

In September 2020, the city of Louisville agreed to a $12 million settlement with the family of Breonna Taylor, a resident who was shot and killed in her home by Louisville police. Following an investigation, the U.S. Justice Department found that Louisville police "engage in a pattern or practice of conduct that violates the U.S. Constitution and federal law." A requirement for officers to wear a body camera was among the reforms made in the wake of Taylor's death. They fired the last Chief of Police because he/she violated that. Guess there will be an opening in Louisville again. Report link below. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1012...discovered
