Everything on TV, every public event, every social media post, is trying to manipulate you, all the time.

What surprises Van Dyke is that the "courts are corrupt" storyline was dropped and then seemingly out of nowhere protests about the Middle East become the big deal, even though that war had been going on for months already.

I wonder why that surprised him so? Would the world have made more sense to him if the campus protesters were protesting the courts for letting Trump stay out of jail and on the ballot?

I suppose the media was hoping there might be protests at court houses and they were trying to make it happen.  Then it didn't happen.  Why is that surprising though? The media is not as effective as they used to be.  They don't have a monopoly on anyone's attention anymore, especially not the young.

Instead the protests start at elite universities against US Israel policy. Van Dyke says that's suspicious.  But I don't think it is.  I think the hard left Hamas-is-OK people were hopeful that other tactics would work.  They were hopeful that Biden would press for a ceasefire.  Then they thought the best way to influence Biden was by campaigning for "uncommitted" votes in the Democratic primary.  That didn't work.  Their sudden surge into campus protests is kind of a last gasp desperation move for a group that has little credibility with any Americans.

The only thing the media cares about is keeping your attention so you keep subscribing or keep watching ads.

And these left wingers that many assume conspire together, don't. There are many different opposing left wing agendas.

I don't think there's anything wrong with having a sense of pride or hating your country. I didn't say I didn't mind burning an American flag.  I said he has a Constitutional right to burn a flag, as long as it's one that he owns.  No one has a right to damage property they don't own, which is what the guy in the truck was doing. 

In the United States, you have a Constitutional right to burn a flag, or a Koran, or a Bible, or whatever, as long as you're not polluting the air we all breathe and as long as you own the thing you are burning.  Some countries don't allow things like that.  In some countries, you can be executed for desecrating a Koran.  I'm glad I live in the United States.

Suppose someone applies to the local government for a permit to paint a temporary picture on the sidewalk.  Maybe the guy is an artist and he wants to paint a picture of the city, or a mountain, or anything.  He receives the permit and proceeds to do his painting on the sidewalk.  Now you come along, and you say, "I don't like this painting.  It offends me."  And you proceed to take out a can of spray paint and vandalize the sidewalk painting.  

Do you think you have a right to do that?
