Goff was a slow developer, but he's in a great spot now. I've never been able to get past how he wilted once the Pats discovered he couldn't figure things out (MUCH earlier in his career mind you) once the in-helmet comms went silent. I still have a hard time acknowledging that he's competent, but you can't deny that he's getting the job done with the loins.

Not sure I agree with Goff being a slow developer. Went 0 - 7 as a rookie and then immediately saw a different QB in years two and three with back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances, winning seasons and stats to back it.

All within a relatively difficult NFC West to compete in. I think Goff is underrated.

To clarify, I said slow developer in the sense that he seemed to require a LOT of handholding (or maybe this is just McVay's m.o.) early on. For a first overall pick, you kinda expect a QB to not only have a grasp on playbook, but to be fluent enough to either audible or improvise when opportunities arise. We haven't seen that same level of dependence on coach or coordinator out of guys like Tlaw, Stroud(I know he wasn't #1), Burrow.

He seems to be a different player in Detroit. The change suited him well.

If we're talking about trading Trevor now for Mahomes now, I would say no to that.  So much of Mahomes' career is behind him.  And besides, I don't like the idea of trading Trevor in the first place.  He's our guy.  He's embedded in the community and in this team.  We've spent 3 years (2 really) developing him, and he's only 24 years old.  

If we're saying what if Trevor and Mahomes were both in this year's draft, and I knew how good Mahomes would become, then of course I would take Mahomes.

I saw this on X earlier and almost commented on it, but thought it better for people that are asleep on Trevor to remain asleep.  Keep in mind the 4 games played post high ankle sprain and the apparent statistically significant decline in completion percentage during that span.  I'd bet he was at least a few percentage points lower on this list pre-injury.  He had 165 attempts in those final 4 games which was over 29% of his 564 attempts for the season.

The narrative this year is gonna be wild to watch unfold in real time.  People that don't pay close attention to the Jags are going to be "wow, Trevor really took strides this offseason" or "something really clicked for him this offseason".  In reality, it will be because he (hopefully) hasn't suffered another debilitating or season ending injury and the o-line is markedly better providing him ample time.  And hopefully there is another gear for Trevor to shift into as well.

I have only began in 2022. I bet 10 bucks on AFC South Champ(+700)/AFC Championship(+5,000)/Super bowl(+10,000) so 30 bucks total.  Last year did the same. Plan on same this year. So actually playing with house money. Those are the only bets I have made since we had a team! I don't suggest anyone do this...
