***Official Training Camp 2024 Thread***

Pederson quote here on the OL injuries.
Sounds like Ezra Cleveland's heel is the only one of these three injuries he's worried about lingering.

Quote:"Hopefully with Anton [Harrison] today and tomorrow, we’ll see where he's at. Hopefully, get him back out on the field on Wednesday sometime and get him ready to go," said Pederson. "Cam [Robinson] has been working some individual walkthroughs, get him going again coming up. Ezra [Cleveland], we’ll just have to see with him. I don't want to push him with his — I think it's his left heel. Just want to make sure that he's 100 percent."

Exactly, i think its oh yes.  The offense has won the last few days, its good to see Cisco coming through for the defense today.  The great teams have back and forth wars with the offense wining some days and the defense winning some days.  It sounds like that is what has been happening this year in camp. You dont want one side dominating the other every day at practice.

Really concerned with the injuries already with the offensive line unit.

He picked off every QB once. He's in the middle of a contract year (I think, if not, his extension should be coming up soon) and he should feel extra motivated, and perhaps, somewhat slighted after seeing some of his other teammates get extensions this off season.

Hopefully he's motivated to be more of that ballhawk we envisioned when the team selected him out of Syracuse. If Nielsen is going to be the aggressor we believe he is and he's been made out to be coaching wise?

This entire secondary should benefit from that.

You're thinking about the whole team and Jaglou is just thinking about the offense.
But I think Jaglou is right.
I would rather the Jags go 8-9 this year, losing a bunch of shootouts, if it meant that Lawrence had plenty of time to throw and was putting up league-leading numbers for this season.  I'd be happy.
Then fix the defense next year.
Maybe it's silly but it's how I feel.
But with Lawrence locked in until 2030 it doesn't really matter either way.  If the line isn't fixed this year we get more chances to fix it for Lawrence later.

“We get more chances later”

I felt this same way for players like Tony Boselli, Fred Taylor, Jimmy Smith, Mark Brunell, Keenan McCardell and other players, coaches. But then one day you wake up and see they are retiring, injured, traded, benched, drafted replacement, etc.

I see the “more chances later” from other fan’s perspective, but I can only focus on the season at hand. Every year is a fresh start, and the 1996 Jaguars taught me that a championship can be won in any season.

We should have a pretty solid defense this season.  We have a coordinator that knows something.  We have speed and talent at all levels of the defense.

Brenton Strange blurb from today's camp report by Shipley:

Quote:Strange made several catches in team drills on Wednesday, showing off good hands on out-breaking routes to get cheap yards and easy first downs. He also made an impact play, catching a pass from Trevor Lawrence when crossing to the other side of the field. Strange got natural separation from the defensive back thanks to his athleticism and managed to pick up quite a bit yards after the catch.
If the Jaguars are going to get their value out of Strange, he will simply need to be a bigger part of the offense. And so far in camp, Strange hasn't done much (drops, missed assignments, etc) to seemingly discourage the Jaguars. He has had a clean camp and Wednesday was his best day.
