But I'm sure you would also agree, they should spend some premium draft picks on offensive linemen next draft.

I want a replacement center for Morse for when he hits the wall, other than that I think we have the guys we need. Harrison and Foster are likely the tackles of the future and Cleveland will be here for at least 3 more. So a center and swing tackle are in the works I hope.

I don't know about Foster.  I don't want to bank on an untested 4th round pick at an extremely important position.

You have zero idea of how durable he is, you have zero idea if he can hold up for 60 minutes against starting caliber dlinemen, or that he can sustain that level of play for a full season.

I actually looked at him repeatedly in the offseason and was jubilant when they got him. He's that guy who is just not quite good enough to be on the left but will be really good on the right. And we're talking about next year, we should know in the next few months if he's going to be capable as a starter. If not then he's probably the reserve swing guy and we need to find a starter.

What "this" is he talking about?  Did someone get injured?

Yes. Ezra Cleveland, working through some type of injury with practice all week. Which will be interesting for Hodges, since he's been getting work at Right Guard, not Left. Either way, if they can get the kid some repetitions across the board at all three interior positions? I am all for it.

Would be a massive steal and benefit to the team if a 7th RD pick is somehow capable and competent enough to offer an upgrade over the clowns in front of him on the roster.

The sad part of this is that Ezra was a good guard before last year's injury hampered him, and now when we were hopeful to see that form return he has another injury. (left heel supposedly)

I doubt Hodges is suddenly going to elevate to the level Ezra was playing on prior to his injury and trade.

I'm just glad it isn't Shatley they are trying to slide in there. He was terri-bad at LG in his last attempt to man it.

I hope Ezra is good to go at some point early in the regular season.

Yeah no crap. You have zero shoes at my house. You have zero boxes of cereal at my house. And you have zero idea what my dog is thinking and if he can sustain a squatting position in my front yard for more than 30 seconds.

Yes but our front office who has jobs on the line worth quite a bit of money is. I like to ask who really has skin on the game. If you made predictions on message boards and got them wrong you had to pay out $10,000 somewhere we'd get a lot less predictions.

Keep that same energy for the season opener. Hope I am wrong. Just not feeling all warm and fuzzy already with what we saw in the preseason opener and then the reports now between Tampa's beat writer and our own John Shipley confirming the same exact details.

Amp had a very good podcast yesterday. They aren’t good, but not at worse than they were in 22. Also rattled off the rams and bengals who made the superbowl with crap lines.

Hope ain’t loss, just not ideal….

I appreciate the optimism. But, we're not the Rams nor the Bengals. The ending to that Superbowl was predictable. I remember looking at my brother and telling him at the start of the 2nd half that this game will end with Aaron Donald putting a cap on it. And he did.

I also recall seeing a Green Bay Packers team absolutely demolish a banged up Steelers offensive line in their one and only Superbowl appearance and victory with Rodgers there. I want to say the Steelers were having to pull a street free agent and were down to third stringers in that game.

It's just aggravating. The Bengals are also wasting some of Burrow's younger years because they can't keep the poor bastard healthy behind said [BLEEP] offensive line. And there's only so much you can do with Higgins and Chase.

If this team falls apart for the 2nd year in a row because of piss poor personnel decisions and collaborations failing between Baalke and Pederson? Sure, Rauscher will end up being a sacrificial lamb, BUT, there needs to be a serious, in-depth review of how the scouting department, general manager and coaching staff work together between Khan and Khan Jr.

We really DO need a higher up with veto power in a role that goes above their heads. Whether an old goat or a young buck in the position. Doesn't matter to me. Just as long as there is an official acknowledgement of failure by ownership in getting this addressed for the 2nd year in a row.

Yeah. My teal colored glasses are securely in their case regarding this O line. They are who we thought there were. I get tired of MB gurus counseling us to “trust the experts”. Nope. The experts’ bank account is in the red on this subject. How many years must we keep seeing the same futility until they’re convinced?

I'm not saying trust the experts, I'm saying we should at least see a game before we panic.

Same. My only hope is that this year's schedule is a little softer and easier to pull out an additional win or two, but, if we have to revert back to Lawrence having to have the 2nd or one of the fastest releases in the NFL from snap to pass? We're going to run into situations where our opponent's just sit back and sit on all the underneath stuff again.

We got away with it in 2022 because it was Pederson's and Lawrence's first up to bat together. Last year, once the injuries racked up and the schedule got tougher, to where, we played the #1 or #2 ranked defense three consecutive weeks in a row, this offense got chewed up and spit out like it was nothing.

We'll see. Hopefully Doug and Press have come up with a new scheme or two or a few concepts to get us out of that situation in 2024. Because, at this point, it feels inevitable that they're going to have to change it up a little bit more in anticipation of this starting five playing like a bunch of 100 pound sleds out there on skates.

+1 for "Gotdern". I also agree. Cleveland was worth the trade. It's just a shame his body is betraying him at the moment. The team at least tried to keep Bartch on the Practice Squad to give him another chance here potentially. I don't know if he's still with the 49ers or not.
