Cisco: “lot of quit”

All while the Defense looks completely lost. It's basically the same team from 2022... Why are we such trash? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I see other teams messing up our offense by blitzing line backers and even corner backs at times. This team needs a better scheme on defense. Switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3 has been a disaster. Coaches make zero adjustments during the game and even at halftime. I could go on but that just for starters. The switch to the 4-3 from the 3-4 isn't the problem. But when you take out JHA and Travon Walker regularly because of some delusional need to "rotate" players so you put scrubs in at DE during key situations, you get exactly the performance that you expect which is total suckness. The D coordinator isn't putting players in position to make plays. Other teams have starter missing and they're able to compensate, but not the Jags. 32nd ranked defense in the league despite a lot of high priced free agents this offseason. Doug thought he could just ride off into the sunset. And then things went bad in 2023. And then he thought he could hire another DC to fix it... When it was his lack of passion all along. He gave up. He is a lazy bum. And his team reflects his coaching.

So who comes in and wins the division with this roster? All the high draft picks and what do we have?
I wish it was just coaching.

I'm not talking about turning things around, I'm talking about players holding each other accountable. The players are in the locker rooms together, they are the ones who hang out together and have the real talk amongst each other. I want to see them stepping up, I want to see them calling out the guys quitting. A lot of these players will be here next year whatever happens at FO/Coaching level and I want to see them have a standard they expect. That's what I'm getting at when saying being stuck together in a hotel for a week will be interesting. Do they have some honest discussions or do they let things further sink. No team in the nfl has the depth to do this. This isn’t college football at #1 texas. Jags especially don’t have depth at any positions except maybe running back and line backer. I can see rotation there is possible.
The team is hapless and uninspired. That much is clear. Whether or not it’s truly the coaching staffs fault basically comes down to the fact that their job to get these guys motivated. So therefore, it is unfortunately their fault.

After listening to this podcast, I think Colin Cowherd may be onto what our problem is. He starts talking about the Jags at 19:26. His thinking is that we have too many forces around the Jaguars that are too laid back after a loss. Owner, head coach, quarterback, local sports media, and even us fans. As a result, he thinks all of these things have converged to us with a team that "just feels loose and inefficient." We obviously need a new GM for a variety of reasons, and our next coach probably needs to be more of a disciplinarian like Tom Coughlin, or maybe a Bill Parcells type. I think Trevor will be fine long term, but it wouldn't be a bad thing if he had a coach and OC who were willing to hold his feet to the fire if he doesn't play up to his abilities. He needs to get better, and it is going to take a new GM, HC, and OC to get the greatness out of him that we all know is there. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. LG, C, RT, RB2, RB3, TE2, WR2, WR3, WR4 are all different. There's no "basically" there, half the starters are different. And the LT and RG are significantly worse than they were in 2022. Defense has Ron [BLEEP] Darby as CB1 and a 6th round guy as CB2 along with a SS who was a 5 last year. Savage has been hurt all year. JHA, RRH, and Hamilton are it on the front line since Armstead appears to be spent, while Foye has been out since week one. Lloyd and Cisco both are struggling in the new scheme, which really seems to be the heart of the issue as we said in the D thread, they don't have the right guys for a Man heavy scheme. You only see what you want to see. I don't know how you coach highly paid football players to do basic football stuff like catch and not fumble, to me that is solely on the player who [BLEEP] up. You can't cut them, they're the best we have (I guess) and help is not on the way. They just simply aren't doing what needs to be done when given every opportunity to do so. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Throwing your hands up and saying "we discussed it with the players" isnt enough. Whatever the coaching staff is doing, it isnt enough. This isnt an issue with one or two players, its the entire roster. The attention to details, intensity, sense of urgency, and focus all come from the leaders, whether it be coaches or players. Multiple dudes dropping passes, multiple dudes fumbling, multiple dudes missing blize assignments. Multiple dudes shooting the wrong gap, multiple dudes picking up the wrong receiver, multiples dudes misreading keys. The players and team as a whole are a reflection of the coaches and theres some rot in that coaching staff for allowing some of the stuff that is going on. And it seems Cisco has noticed this rot in the form of individuals not putting in the appropriate effort. (10-13-2024, 04:29 PM)flsprtsgod Wrote:(10-13-2024, 04:26 PM)homebiscuit Wrote: Doug is gone. Baalke, the rot of all of this really, is dug in like the tick he is. 11 years of Khan's past behavior would be my first guess. Baalke also just signed a heap of guys to long-term deals, many of whom he is responsible for bringing aboard. I for sure could see Khan giving him the shot to pick the coach that he thinks can take the roster as constructed and make it the winner Shad thought it would be in his preseason declaration. Not that hard to see the patience in Khan if you look back. Heck, I could even see him making the choice up to Doug to stay or go, but he's gotta figure out what the team is built to do and work within that confine AND have that fire. I just don't know if Doug wants to keep fielding the same questions about job security week in and week out. He may just walk away on his own. It sucks, really thought we were on to something, like stories were being rewritten. Turned out to be just a different chapter in the same book. We show less advertisements to registered users. First, he's in a contract year, and second, he still has to count on these guys to bail him out if he's the one getting burned. That will show up in film study, on the practice field, in a private meeting. If the coaches aren't gonna step on some players' toes, I'm fine if the players want to start stepping up and doing the coaches' jobs for them. I agree with this, and I got this vibe from him even before the 2023 season, but we were riding such a high then that I ignored it. I’m starting to notice that plenty of coaches and players take the Jaguars job because they think its gonna be some kind of paid vacation. Jax is a golfer’s and fisherman's paradise after all, and football expectations aren’t too great. I think Doug thought that he can cash HC checks and do the above, while his apprentices ran the show, since they are relatively new and would do it to gain experience and advance their own NFL careers. But I think ultimately, for a young team like this, the continuous presence of a HC is necessary to keep them focused and keep it from going off the rails. Unfortunately its too late, this team is lazy, unmotivated, and frankly, looks like they have all given up on the season We show less advertisements to registered users. Sometimes we try to make a bunch of different excuses to rationalize what we are seeing on the field - and they could be true.
However, I think it quite frankly boils down to a simple fact... We just flat out SUCK. Our players aren't talented enough to play NFL-level football.

Cisco is an idiot. If you quit and you are not even an All Pro kind of player you are just a loser. Cisco is mediocre and this is only more proof.
