Who knows how FO office politics plays out, but it has to be a given to anyone that this regime is over. For us fans, it's now a game of speculating who is moving in this January.

How many of us predicted we would go full-on Jaguars this year? I didn't expect it to be this bad. It's awful. But what makes it especially frustrating is we're not devoid of talent like most of the other dark years. We have the talent to win games, but we simply can't, for whatever reason of the week. Which is the hallmark of a leaderless team. Doug just wants to get high and sit on the beach.

It would be nice if Trevor had the captainship of Peyton Manning. Such a quality could carry this team in difficult games. But in all honesty, not many QBs possess it in such quantities.

It' so unfortunate the majority believe this. If there is enough talent, Baalke is going no where. 

Khan already showed his cards this preseason saying best Jags team ever, it's going to fall only on coaching. 

The truth is when you take the teal glasses off, its a bottom 5 roster. There is very LITTLE talent. Lions game will show that gap, maybe people will wake up.

I think they almost have enough talent to be a ~.500 team now - but not enough to win a division or advance beyond a wildcard game. 

50% less stupid mistakes from the current roster and they have 4 wins right now. 

Now if you're of the opinion that the inconsistencies and mistakes fall under the umbrella of "talent" then that's a different conversation. 

My best attempt at being objective about this roster is that they are 3 pieces away on the offense from a competitive group of starters and 4 pieces away on a defense that needs a new leader desperately. 

That does represent a meaningful lack of talent even if it doesn't sound as dire as your description.

Yep. Trevor is a really good QB. He's not Peyton Manning as I thought he would be and that's very disappointing, but I don't know how people watch games and other QBs in the NFL and can't conclude that man can play football. His deep ball passing ability, quick release, and ability to throw on the run for a 6'6 QB is unique 
 
Put Trevor on 70% of the other teams in the NFL and he's winning a ton of games.

Trevor now needs a top 5 defense, a top 5 rushing attack, a top 5 offensive line and a top 5 WR core that doesn't drop passes and leads in explosive plays in order for this team to win. It has to be perfect. We all know this now. It can't be 73 degrees nor 75 degrees, it MUST be 74 degrees at ALL times in order for him to succeed.


1/9 on 3rd down. An INT gifted to the offense by the defense early, only to be returned right back to sender inside our own 20 that led to 7 points, followed by that fumble inside the 5 yard line that led to another 7 points. 

The defense has been atrocious this year, nobody is arguing this, nobody is defending it. However, again, in the grand scheme of things? Why should I be offended by this defense when it's a new coach and scheme when I can look at the other half of the team and coaching staff and say:

1. Doug Pederson, Press Taylor & Mike McCoy have all been here since day one and it's year three now with the same QB and core trio of players.

2. The offense has been the slow starter, not the defense. The offense was handed three to five punts in the first half as well. They did nothing in return. 

3. The offense continues to turn the football over or kill itself with self inflicted wounds when within striking distance. The ETN fumble, the D'Ernest illegal procedure, the two wide open TD's missed in Houston and the two turnovers in this past Sunday's game, etc. 

Getting awfully tired of one unit being praised or treated like a turd with sprinkles on it while blaming the other unit for the entirety of the team's issues this season. This whole [BLEEP] team. With the exception of Little and Cooke, they all have had moments of dog [BLEEP] out there more than flashes of brilliance. Period.

I know you don't like looking at numbers because you said it's for nerds but try this one out. Which one do you think shares more of the blame? The dead last defense or middle of the road offense?

And Trevor doesn't need top 5 anything. How about an average defense? Considering the amount of money and resources poured into the defense, for them to be dead last is the biggest failure of the season by far.

Offense is not too far behind them man. They're 21st overall. Where was this offense in the following weeks?

They needed 21 in week one to win it. Couldn't do it. ETN's fumble happened. No response or fight after that. 

They needed 19 in week two to win it. Couldn't do it. D'Ernest's mistake negates a TD. They folded for a safety instead.

They needed 25 in week four to win it. Couldn't do it. Lawrence blew two TD passes between BTJ and Kirk.

This offense is supposed to be further along staffing wise, talent wise and cohesiveness wise compared to this defense. Again, it's a TOTAL TEAM FAILURE. Period. Each unit has done a damn good job week-to-week rotating shots of fireball during pregame to see who is going to play like a plate of pig slop out there.

With the exception of Cooke and Little on Special Team's.

People continue to harp on Press Taylor and this offense, but, it's the fact that Doug's glaring weaknesses is not knowing [BLEEP] on how to run an NFL defense or not having enough bandwidth or networking abilities to find viable defensive coaches to assist him this time is going to be what gets him fired.

I think he's a fraud though. We hired the modern version of Brian Billick. We should have listened to those fans up there and read those articles with open and unbiased eyes. We were reeling from that Urban Meyer debacle and things were looking on the up and up initially. Now we're crashing back down to reality and it sucks.

And no one is claiming the offense doesn't deserve blame here. They start games extremely slow (that's on coaching), miss throws and dropped passes. They stink sometimes too.

The issue I'm having is that many people are laying the majority of the blame here at Trevors feet. If you're making a list of the reasons this season has been a failure, I'm not sure Trevor is in the top 15. Without him, they are 0-8 with probably zero close losses. They don't beat the clots without him and they likely lose the Pats game too.

Well I mean you CAN cut him before then, it’s just the dead cap hits don’t get to an amount that realistically  most front offices would swallow until later in the contract. I meant 2029 not 2028. 2028 would be a dead cap hit of 42 million which would be bitter to take that hit. Decreases to 21 mil in 2029 then decreases more after that. And can’t take credit was able to find the info online. I like the first few years because it allows us wiggle room to build around him. So in that way I think while an argument that he’s not living up to the overall amount can be made (yet, depending on your outlook with him) at least it’s structured to try and field a good team overall rather then hope he morphs into Walmart Brady and carry everything himself

So cap hit is too high first few years and goes down as the years go on. Yeah, $42 million would still be too high.

The 2028 combined salary and option amount of $46M doesn't guarantee until the 5th day of the league year of 2027, so if they have made a decision to part ways at that time due to an absolute catastrophic regression, that 2028 amount won't be guaranteed and we won't be on the hook for it if we cut him ahead of time.  This is kind of an early emergency exit option from the deal.  This won't happen, but is still important for understanding the structure of his deal.  

Deals should be looked at from the perspective of guaranteed money only.  Non-guaranteed money is funny money and the player is not likely to play on non-guaranteed contract years.  They will usually either be cut or a new deal will have been worked out.

At this moment, Trevor is playing on a 4 year $142M guaranteed money deal which turns into a 5 year $200M guaranteed money deal at the beginning of the 2027 offseason as the additional $46M doesn't guarantee until then.  (There's also a small part of the 2027 salary that doesn't guarantee until the beginning of the 2026 league year.  Suffice it to say that they blended the last 2 years of his existing rookie deal with a 5 year extension for a total of 7 years with the better part of 4 years being currently guaranteed and a very likely 5th year being guaranteed later on.  He technically makes about $40.5M per year from now thru the 2028 season. His annual salary will jump to $50M and $53M for the '29 and '30 seasons, but I wouldn't even look at those seasons right now or count them because he will not be playing on the non-guaranteed portion of this contract.  He will either have done a new deal here or have been cut by then.  (Spoiler alert: he will not be cut unless it's due to career ending injury).

How is he averaging $40M per year when it's advertised as $55M per year you ask?  It's because it's taking into account the fact that he was set to play for much less this year and next prior to this new deal.  If you subtract out the increase from this year and next and add it to the back 5 years you can get to the $55M per year figure depending on how you slice it.  It's very team friendly all things considered in my opinion.

In 2024 the top 10 guys are gonna make 45-60 million.
In 2028 the top 10 guys are gonna be making 55-70 million.

The Offense has their issues sure, but they're still top 1/3 (12th/13th) in the league. The Defense meanwhile is far and away the worst in the league, but it's a Trevor problem. Yea ok...

After 8 games, Trevor is 10th in passing yards and 10th in TD passes. That would have been higher if it wasn't for all of these drops that could have been more TDs and passing yards.

I'm kinda confused. I keep getting told CJ Stroud is much better than Trevor yet last night when he has WR's injured and gets sacked 8 times he was11/30 for 191 yds 0 TD's with a lost fumble and loss to a hapless Jets team they just lost to the Patriots.

Surely he should be able to overcome all those things, surely he should elevate people around him, surely if he was truly elite he'd find a way to win a game like that.

Or maybe it doesn't matter how good a QB you are if your running for your life, under constant pressure and have no time to get settled and in rhythm.

This only applies to everyone but Trevor. He’s not allowed to have excuses (legitimate reasons)

Also, there’s the simple fact that CJ was overhyped last year and just not as good as people said. I said over and over he got lucky a lot last year and his performance was overblown. He’s still a good QB, but he’s not top 5 like everyone tries to make him out to be. At least not yet.
