Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)

If you needed a reason why TLAW should be playing and gain chemistry with BTJ, just turn on Sunday night football and watch the magic of Burrow and Chase.

You only gain chemistry by playing in games.

Tee Higgins signing with his old pal Trevor this off-season to pair with Thomas should help

If only we had a good o-line.  No, we have to focus on the lines before we go for any more WR1 talent.  Besides, we already got BTJ.  We just need better protection and better scheming.

Not that T-Higg and BTJ isn't something that would be awesome to watch with Lawrence.  But we're not even near that level of investment.

Remember him?

Maybe we should check if Pederson is available because the team needs someone with an established track record.

Yeah and long term he’s blown it up the same as he did previously because he puts too much faith in a guy, that the only logical explanation is, has a sex tape video of him that he’s threatening to release

Press is Doug's love child. There's no other rational explanation.

I wrote a page on why the Pederson firing in Philly had little to do with Press Taylor and Doug's loyalty to Taylor here is owed to the fact that he's running Doug's offense the way Doug wants it run, and that hasn't changed much in 3 years. You can reference NYC's analysis of the play calling last offseason to see that almost nothing changed in the way the offense runs from 2022 to 2024. This idea that Taylor is the downfall of the Pederson regime was latched on to 2 years ago and it's not more true now than it was then.

This team has a talent deficiency along with a head coach and GM who don't get along. If you look at history, this was a match made in hell as both men have a history of this kind of conflict in their pasts. It was practically inevitable that this would happen.

https://www.nfl.com/news/doug-pederson-c...t-a-collab

So basically they had a huge decline with Wentz in 2020 when Press was QB coach, he then gets promoted and both him and Doug gets sacked.

I would like to see the breakdown of how the plays are the same if you can link it, for me watching it we seem to be running far less bootlegs which was there TLaw did well, and seem to be running far more screens.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it’s probably a duck, don’t overthink this.

Damning.

Extremely, and Doug and the majority of his staff along with Trent and the majority of his staff need to be carved right up on out of this building today before Thanksgiving like the turkey's they all are.

No creativity. No answers. No leadership. No talent. No spine.

To be fair that's what the lions produce against the worst defense in the league in a half, not just any half of football. If the Jaguars offense got to play our defense they'd be producing much more, too.

....Why do you think we are so positive in July and August?

Burrow's currently playing hurt?

The bungles are so far out of playoff contention that a win or two doesn't really matter?

Zac Taylor is coaching on fumes and likely to be fired any day now?

You think Joey B and Chase don't hang in the offseason and work on this stuff?

Come the crap on already. If Trevor can play, let him play. If there is a risk of doing more harm than good to the potential EXISTING injury, the benefit of 5-7 throws a game serve little to no purpose.

Oh yeah, and just like Duval, they still lost in spite of the chemistry and effort. So yeah, there's your parallel.

It's eerie the parallel between the two teams at this point, because both have the same exact problem...their lines just aren't any good. Flashy skill players can't overcome the need for strong and competent bug guys, and that's the whole problem for Taylor/Burrow and Pederson/Lawrence both.

You'd like to think the last 2 games have made the doubters realise just how much Trevor has working against and him and has to overcome. He's had the same teammates and system to work with that's barely moved the last 2 games.

I think he's that X-factor difference we have to the other HC jobs available in the offseason. A competent HC knows he doesn't have to search for a QB. We already have one here.

I owe Lawrence somewhat of an apology. He's clearly had to work with virtually no talent in the front office and now he's been sandbagged over the past year and a half with a mediocre and washed coaching staff that's supposed to have this offense humming along. I think he has the mental fortitude to handle what's to come moving forward. We really do need a no nonsense coaching staff and front office established for his sake. It's time for this franchise to grow the [BLEEP] up a little bit. Urban was immature. Doug is also immature, just a little bit better at [BLEEP] his way through the NFL ranks.

I'll say it again. Give me Bill Belichick and/or Mike Vrabel for the next four years and let's get this show on the road. I know we're getting a good defense, a good offensive line and a running game with either of those two or both of them in the mix. If you really want to build culture? Go and poach Borgonzi from Kansas City or Pioli and Agnew from Detroit and they'll figure out how to fix your roster to fit the coaches culture. We're really messing around too much and thankfully Lawrence is still young and not even near his prime or his potential yet.

When your 25 year old franchise QB is the biggest adult in the room, there are much bigger issues going on.

Absolutely. For his sake I hope 2025 brings him and the rest of this franchise good fortune.

Just to say a huge well done to the new superstar and GOAT CJ Stroud for finally tying Trevor for total TD's yesterday.

Trevors played 3 games less aswell but I'm finally starting to realise what all you Stroud lovers were talking about.

Wow, he's really elite and Trevor is a bust.

Do I need to add the /S?
