Yeah.  I've watched very little of him, but the little I have is nauseating as is pretty much any other late night talk show host these days.  I don't mind actual humor and parody of politicians, but these days it's just thinly veiled and orchestrated hit pieces against the right that aren't particularly funny and I will in fact laugh at genuinely funny things aimed at the right wing.  I distinctly remember the commercials/promos for Colbert's show during the pee tape hoax.  It was clear he was either a true believer or "ends justify the means" type guy or both, but all of these guys in late night are, Kimmel, Corden, Myers (dude is the most unfunny of the bunch), etc.   I don't even know who is on late night anymore aside from Colbert and Kimmel because if I'm not already in bed, I'm watching something else anyway.  I think late night died for me when Conan left the scene.  I know he was left wing, but I found him genuinely funny.

It is more difficult to do political comedy now that Trump is on the scene. It's not that Trump did anything wrong, but the man is basically an insult comic himself. The material for comedians is there, the comedians can still write it, but at this moment too many people will take them seriously when they perform it. So you either get an audience that shares your ideology and takes most of what you say literally, so you get fewer laughs and no crossover appeal, or, you get no audience at all.

This isn't what's happening at all and it's also another example of you victim shaming.  "It's not that there's an agenda, it's that you can't take a joke."  Lol.  Nah, the jokes are bad despite Trump being infinitely parody-able.  And they're bad because they are secondary to the agenda be it an agenda directive coming from up top or one the host holds personally.  It's completely one sided and intentionally so.  It hasn't been honest humor or light hearted parody in a very long time.  The left has lost their mind on comedy which is why many left wing comedians are pushing back, especially if they already have [BLEEP] you money.  And that doesn't mean they are now right wing, it just means the left is trying to eat its own as it always does and they [BLEEP] with the wrong left leaning bulls.

I'll give John Stewart some credit as a lefty who isn't afraid to make fun of left wing politicians.  I've never seen any of the other guys do it though and admittedly I've watched very little of them so perhaps it's just not on my radar.  But the little that gets shoved in your face through promos or me occasionally (very rare) catching their opening monologue or catching clips on social media, it just doesn't happen.  I mean, how can you honestly produce legitimate humor about politics when you are in borderline tears about Trump winning (Kimmel).  I guess I find genuine humor in his apparent honest reaction.  If that's what he was secretly going for all along, kudos to him I guess.

Kudos to Fallon at the end of this clip as well.  I'm sure he's left wing, but I've never gotten the same vibe from him as I do Kimmel, Colbert and Myers.  Feels more like a professional comedian and less like an amateur activist hack.

I'm admitting there is an agenda with most of these guys now.  The *audience*, whether they agree with the comedian or not, are taking his words too seriously.  The main part of the remaining audience wants their comedians to have an agenda.

And I'm putting Trump in that category of political comedy, he's the right wing analogue of Colbert and Myers and John Oliver now. He has a right wing audience that doesn't laugh very much and takes him seriously with love, and a left wing audience that takes him seriously with hate.

As for Kimmel, his bit has always been more sincere and autobiographical, not always funny.

Fallon has always been a more disciplined comic than any of them. The puppy dog of the bunch, and it's good there's still a lane for that.

Speaking only for myself, I am not embarrassed to admit that POC, woman, gay / lesbian and bisexual people have been treated poorly in the past.  There's no doubt about that.  But I am not willing to say that I am treating them poorly right now, or that I, or anyone else who did not ever treat them poorly, deserve to be penalized or somehow used to make up for past mistreatment.  
It's not the history lesson that I object to.  It's the proposed remedies that are objectionable to me.  So, YES to the history lesson.  NO to using me or any other innocent party to make up for past injustices.
