He'll start piling up sacks against the less mobile QBs soon enough.

Not worried about him. I'm worried about the way Nielsen is rotating the middle and why the hell we aren't seeing JHA, Walker and Armstead on the field together more often.

Baalke probably told him he cannot do that.

Curious to see if anybody has his total snap counts from last year Vs. this year.

He played 79% of snaps last year compared to 73% this year, but last year was also an outlier as before he played 76%, 69% and 70% of snaps.

OK, Mr. Highbrow.

I guess some of us haven't read all the stats sheets while sitting on our friend's couch.

Thank you both. Good to know. I know he also missed some time here and there with a few mid game injuries.

OK, Mr. Highbrow.

I guess some of us haven't read all the stats sheets while sitting on our friend's couch.

I takes about 30 seconds on Spotrac or PFF to find these numbers. That's why I am incredulous that so many people take so many crazy positions that fly in the face of the actual numbers. It's not like they are hard to find.

Eh, I've stopped trying to decipher PFF.

All I know is that JHA has been trash since he changed his name.  He was the Good Josh Allen.  Now he's practically invisible.

I don't need PFF for SportbookticktockXtwitter to tell me that he's regressed.

So I guess he's worth the money?  Is that the point you are trying to make?

Because honestly, JHA looks like a ghost most times I watch the games.

But he's a ghost I'm told

Beating the hapless tacks is nothing to get excited about but trying to pin this defensive level of suck under Neilesen on JHA is one of the silliest narratives I've seen on this board and I've seen some [BLEEP]

He's played decent this year. This is his typical average and he still has one more game to pop off.

Having a hard time [BLEEP] on him when there's nobody else on this roster at the moment that can outplay him or replace him.

Armstead and Smith should have been playing exclusively inside all year together and they have not really received much out of Hamilton neither.

Nielsen's inexperience and overall approach has been dog [BLEEP] as well. Would serve this team well if they hired a veteran presence as the next DC instead of another relatively unknown commodity.

Brian Flores, Vic Fangio, Steve Spagnuolo & Vance Joseph continue to prove why it's important to get the DC hire correct. Night and day difference for those teams.

I'll take dinosaurs like Del Rio, Frazier, and Rivera over Nielsen right now. If Tampa fires Bowles I would take him too. As well as Saleh.

The biggest issue for both JHA and Walker is that the pocket isn't being pushed from the middle. We saw a lot more middle pressure yesterday than we've been seeing, both because EA and Smith played good and because the tittians are pretty bad in the middle OL like us. Still, they ran for 160 yards, so it's not like the problem is solved by any stretch. I think Smith is going to be good and I've liked what we've seen from JJ so far too. A legitimate third pass rusher would be great and I still wish that Neilsen had moved Lloyd to that role, I think he'd be very effective there. Moreso than displacing our all-World MLB and jacking up the whole backend with a guy who can't figure out that he's supposed to cover the tight end running all by himself on the backside of the play.

JHA played well and was far from invisible.
Would like to see more 2 gap from the DT when JHA is taking a wide line.
Too many times a DT tries to shoot a gap when he should be 2 gapping and looking for QB to step up

Today I learned Dante Fowler is still in the league, on the Skins and currently has 10.5 sacks this year. Wild

His biggest game and plays (best was the hit on Spears imo- huge tackle for loss and Spears unfortunately got hurt but it was a massive hit, then the sack) both came in yesterdays game against a tacks team that was clearly in tank mode. Down 13 with 30 seconds left and 1 timeout, on the Jags 30... and the tacks run the ball... and take the clock down to enough time just for a FG and call timeout. Tells you everything you need to know about the tacks strategy yesterday. I don't know about you guys, but I was my big $ DE to show up in games that matter, guess we will find out next season. Because in any meaningful game this year, he sure as hell didn't show up (but PFF still grades him high for his run D). I understand there is nothing he really can do about his production now other than essentially rack up some garbage time #'s, but c'mon JHA show up in some big games next year, I think it's pretty reasonable. If you've watched the games this year, you know for a fact yesterday was his biggest game, and if you don't then I'd like to hear which game he has played better in.

I've stopped listening to my brain months ago.  But my eyes still tell me that JHA did not perform to the contract we signed him to.  This was clearly a down year for him.  And it's not just me that thinks that:

I could take back the hyperbole of calling him "invisible".  But honestly, there are times throughout every game where I forget that there's a 41 on the field at all.  We paid the guy good money.  For the money we paid him, he didn't live up to the expectations any of us had for him.

Saying he "played well" based on the expectations for him this year is an indictment, not a defense.

Yeah, I get it, our DC is trash and our interior D-Linemem were not getting the job done either.  But a guy like 41 should have still been able to perform better than he did.  Just my opinion, but I think he had a disappointing year.

How did a brand new scheme impact his play?
How did mediocre play from the interior impact his play?
How did the linebacker and secondary play impact his play?

If the play around him was better, then do you think his stats would be acceptable?

I'll agree his stats are below expectations, but his tape is on point.
My only gripe on tape is both him and Walker didnt defend the edge too well and I chalk that up to new scheme.

With that said, I expect more stats from him and I expect more leadership and setting a higher level of expectation of himself and his defense.
