This is from Albert Breer this morning:
"• Jaguars owner Shad Khan has expressed some flexibility to coaching candidates on his decision to retain GM Trent Baalke. And my read on that is this: If a coach has the leverage to get what he wants from the team, then Khan could still pull the plug on Baalke." This seems like a Ben Johnson or Aaron Glenn message. They may be the only two with the pull to get Baalke fired. Guess we wait to see what these guys are going to do. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I would love to see video of Baalke walking out the door of EverBank while holding a box of his belongings. Then the door opening up again to show a tape measure tossed out and clattering on the ground.

Good hire for them. I would have liked him here, but the connections he has with that organization apparently mean a lot more than being in division with the tacks and shoving it to them twice a year. I just hope Bob Kraft gave Mayo a nice severance, that was a raw deal to get the position open. Besides Bowers and maybe Brady, what do the Raiders have that the Jags can't provide? Minshew / O'Connell as QB verses Trevor ... hmmm. Would a new coach want to face the Chiefs, Broncos and Chages twice a year, where the Jags face the Titans, Clots and Texans. Quite a difference in talent. nightlife? fans in seats? Tomlin, who is indeed Del Rio's coaching twin, could probably be had for one first rounder. But I don't want a floor raiser. I want to swing for the fences. For that matter, we could lure Cowher out of retirement. THEN we get Tomlin. That's the formula that worked. If you interview 5, 10 guys and really like 2 or 3, but all of them have qualms about working with the rest of the leadership group, you bend your principles to fit theirs. Shad needs a quality coaching hire way more than he needs to keep TB around. Sounds like he's not willing to settle for leftovers if that's the only hangup. It's a bad look, especially in the short term, but if you believe in the HC hire more than you do in the GM hire, ego isn't worth choosing a lesser candidate. There is no way in hell I’d consider him. The Cowboys were awful this year even before they started getting beset by injuries. They lost their first four home games by a combined 94 points. I guess I have home field knowledge of some of the stuff that went on out here during the season. ![]() |
