I do think this is just a major media company paralyzed by political correctness seeing this as an opportunity to pander to the flavor of the day cause. They had an inside track on Jenner because their sister network, ABC, grabbed the first interview with shim following all of the revelations. I think they feel that the Jenner story, which landed them pretty significant ratings for the interview, was intriguing enough to assure that if they were to give shim an award, that it would serve as a ratings boom for the ESPYs, especially if Caitlyn shows up to accept it.
I think it took balls to do what he has done. Cutting through the chase, never skirting the issue.
But the question now is, will he make less in the working world?

Cutting through the chase isn't what he did. There was cutting, but it wasn't through some "chase". Let's just say that he/she no longer "has what it took" to do what he/she has done. :blink:

There's absolutely nothing positive about this. Many words come to mind. One of them isn't the word courageous.

There is plenty that is positive. The biggest in my opinion is it starts a conversation and one society can no longer hide from.
