Quote:once again thats not the point. people have bad trips on shrooms/lsd and it can be quite nasty...meth/cocaine/ crack/methamphetamines and everything else other than pain meds have any place in my world and I dont want my 5 year old granddaughter to grow up thinking its cool to get blasted out of her mind every day

They don't have a place in your world, that's great, because no one is going to force you to start taking them just because they're legal. They do have a place in some people's world and they have a right to that just as much as you have a right to keep them out of your world.

Why would she think that? If her parents raise her to not think it's "cool to get blasted out of her mind every day", then she probably won't. Or she will, whatever, it's each person's choice.

My whole point of it all is incredibly simple. People should have the right to do what they want as long as it doesn't actively interfere with another person's rights. Notice I said rights, not beliefs.

But your rights only extend to the limits of my beliefs, that's why we have government!

so when people smoke pot or shoot heroine and jump in a vehicle is ok because it's not interfering with my rights? and dont say they wont because they will and do...My oldest son lives in Denver where you can sit on a park bench and smoke pot...People get high and jump in their vehicles and run off to work or whatever...

so if we don't believe the same thing I have no rights?

Hey, let's go buy some heroin at Wal-Mart!

Of course it's not, but it's not different than doing so while drunk or taking your legal Oxycodone. Stop being obtuse and admit that you're intentionally misrepresenting the facts.
So, how much weed can a person buy legally in Colorado with $20?

That's like saying make alcohol illegal because people could drink and then jump in a car. What's the difference?

On average in Colorado, it's 2% more expensive to purchase legally. Most of the states with a large gap between the legal and black market prices are ones where it's only legal medically, vice recreationally.

I like beer but not weed, that's the difference.  Wallbash

Legalizing weed drives down the cost of street weed.

And creates a new black market.

How to combat this is to legalize and tax it federally that way businesses don't have to do the back door drops to sell the rest of their stock. They can put their money in banks without worry of the federal government taking their "drug money".

Either way.... 20 bucks ain't enough :-p

I'ma be droppin bills when they open stores in Florida... if they ever get it passed for rec use.

HOWEVER

You will never totally rid the world of illegal drug runners, gun runners, or human traffickers...

The idea is to minimize the amount of illegal activity so that the government agencies can concentrate on those who really have bad interests at heart.

Real criminals....

I don't expect everyone to always agree with legalization...

But that is what is so great about America... we don't have to agree on marriage equality, or abortions, or legal weed....

but as America, we should allow people to live... and that's why restrictions on things that don't affect others should be lifted

Nah, you'd have to use some of that $20 for sales tax on the legal stuff.

Smarty Pants

YEAH!!!

20 bucks of legal weed (probably about 2 grams)

costs like 22.50 or something after tax
