Floor/Ceiling is obviously all a bunch of crap. Im sure Aaron Curry had a high floor/ high ceiling? What really matters in the end is what you do on the football field. So far for any WR on this team Hurns is on the top of the list

You on the other hand can't seem to grasp this widely known and used concept.

 

A guy with 23 catches in his 8 starts isn't exactly disproving the notion of having a ceiling. It's not like he took his game to another level when given starting opportunities outside of the very first game. The exact opposite started happening and teams pretty much turned him into a non factor.

 

Mix him into the rotation and he made some nice plays here and there. Put him in as a starter where teams account for him and his production falls off a cliff. Half his starts had 2 or less receptions.

Hurns has great potential. I'm a fan.

Robinson is currently better IMO however.

Not even close to Robinson's level. He does have some good route running skills, ill give him that.

Yup, agreed. AR15 made a TD catch, I think in London, that was a thing of absolute beauty.


Now, I hope I don't jinx Allen Hurns, but the dude is a tough son of a gun. He was asked to go across the middle and he got beat up, but would still make the catch. That's invaluable to a team.


The problem with Hurns in his rookie year was in the fly routes, which I beleive was best seen in the game in DC. If memory serves, he was wide open on a deep route, the ball was thrown perfectly, and he was all alone... But dropped it after it hit him in the hands...


He's still rough around the edges, but man he's a gamer in the middle of the field. Again, I hope I'm not jinxing him.

A lot will improve with these players second year and we will notice who makes it noticeable soon. Can't wait .

Hurns versatility is what earned him a roster spot and playing time.

Talent wise, you're right.  Robinson is a world-class talent.  Hurns is a big surprise for an undrafted rookie.  He has shown he deserves to get major minutes but in the final analysis Robinson will be a better player all things being equal (meaning if Robinson can stay on the field).  Isn't it great we can have this kind of conversation? 

Allen Robinson is a sure handed possession receiver. Hurns is a dynamic playmaker whom makes big plays at any moment. Apples to oranges.

I see Hurns like Atlanta's Harry Douglas. He's not as exciting or well focused on the field as the team's starting receivers, but his height/speed combo and ability to keep plays alive, as well as his knowledge of the system's route tree, makes him a valuable slot receiver capable of starting on the outside in the event of injury.


Marqise Lee is a great route runner, capable of going up for the ball as well, and ridiculously quick -- definitely a perfect YAC and deep pass guy. He's too good an athlete to keep off the field, though I could see him playing slot as a mismatch in some formations with Hurns lined up wide.


Allen Robinson has the highest potential -- Hurns can get the jump ball but Robinson's 42" leap is staggering. Watch his high school basketball highlights, that kid flew way above the rim like it was nothing and dunked/rebounded all over dudes. He has strong hands and has showed ridiculous body control, he'll be making some backward spinning back shoulder catches in his career. Also watch his end of game score against Ohio State in college, he may not be fast but he has exceptional vision and pretty quick feet to juke guys at least. Give him an offseason to refine his game and you'll change your mind.

you might be confusing the terminology of "well-rounded" with "complete"

......i was almost with you until you said that. 

I don't think any of our wide receivers are the most complete. If you take Speed, YAC, Route running and Hands.... Hurns only have 2 of the 4. Hands and Route Running... I don't think any of the receivers as of yet has 3 of the 4, but you can teach Route Running and gain more confidence catching the ball with repetition.


Robinson is the same receiver as Hurns but is better at the two (Hands and Route Running)

Lee has speed and Yac.. But can be taught the other 2 with repetition and experience..
