Yeah, I'm curious about his 3-cone. He looks like the type of guy that would do well on that.

Quote:Did he not do any agility drills?
Not that I've seen.
When most people compare him to 3-4 rush OLBs, I'd be wary of using him at the LEO position in our scheme. Very wary.

he reminds me a lot of bruce irvin, for whatever that is worth, irvin was playing the LEO spot a lot but i believe they moved him to the OTTO
I stand by Ben Fennell's Ryan Davis comp. It really is perfect. Bulk him up, let the speed and motor play up inside.

They move OTTO around a lot.

According to Gus:

“On third down, maybe our Otto is a Leo,” Bradley said. “When we crunch the numbers and which guys are [active for the game], the Otto may be our third Leo or an extra rusher, and that’s why [the Jaguars signed] Dekoda. He can run. He’s a third or fourth Leo.”

That being said, I certainly don't see #3 being an OTTO selection, particularly since that what we signed Skuta for. To add to that, Irvin himself wasn't selected until pick 15.

We signed Skuta for 4M AAV, really don't think that is going to keep Dave from picking a great OTTO candidate like Beasley if that's who he thinks is best.

i dont advocate ray at 3. i was just saying who he reminds me of. his lower than expected numbers might drop him down into the 18-25 range. if that happens, i wouldnt hate to see the jaguars move up to get him.
Quote:Ray's unofficial 40 times at his pro day this morning were around 4.6, saw 4.56, 4.63, and 4.66. Compared to these official 40s: Fowler 4.60, Beasley 4.53, Gregory 4.64, and Dupree 4.56.

Will update when I see the more important 10 yard split, or any other numbers.
yeah, that plus the injury dont look good for him.

He seems destined to be a Steeler to me. At least that's around the first place I would start considering him an ok value.

Oh, I agree that if they find an OTTO they like, they'd strike in the draft.

I just don't believe they should do it at 3.

Trade back to a more reasonable value position? Absolutely.

Von Miller at 2 sure worked out well. That's just about the perfect comp to the player and position Beasley would play if we got him.

Beasley, to me, has a really high chance of being a huge bust. ill hope for the best if we take him but wont expect it.

I'd be 100% on board if we ran a 3-4, but we don't.
Ray is still my favorite pass rusher in this draft.

You don't think that's essentially what OTTO is supposed to be emulating? It's a traditional 4-3 OLB w/ more pass rushing responsibilities...sounds like a 3-4 OLB to me.

Simply put, you select a linebacker at 3, and you better be getting Lawrence Taylor.

Otherwise, if you aren't getting LT you can get the same guy at 10 or 15 if you are patient and trade down.

I think you are just understating the role OTTO will play. By all accounts it appears OTTO is going to be a featured role in our defense, and will be just as important as your typical coveted 3-4 OLB I think.
Shane Ray unofficial #Mizzou Pro Day results: 6'2, 249 lbs, 9" hands, 33" vert, 10' broad, 4.52 pro agility, 7.7 3-cone, 4.64 40, 1.65 10 yd

Holy crap that is awful. 7.7 3 cone?! Ryan Davis mode engaged don't put him anywhere near the edge of my defense.

Actually, I reeeeealy hope his injury played a big part in that, cause as I've said all along he didn't show athleticism outside of his good first step...but that's way worse than even I expected.

Ray lost a lot of money in the last month
