He was signed for 2015 but it was a "voidable year", I never knew what that meant. (Who could void it? When?). Now spotrac has him listed as a UFA, his voidable year is crossed out in his contract details, and he's also listed as a UFA in PFF's free agent tracker. However I can't find any news on what changed regarding his contract. Anybody know?

Idk but dude is a below average player at his position.

Yes below average, if he isn't top 32 DT in the league makes him below average.
He's also listed as a free agent on NFL.com

He moved to defensive end last season.
Considering Caldwell has openly expressed interest in him returning, I'm guessing he'll be back. Also I believe the final year of his deal was a player option, but I haven't seen anything about it being voided.

He's the walking definition of "just a guy." Nothing more, nothing less. I can't remember many other Jags players who were just so incredibly average.

I don't see anyone championing him as more than "just a guy". He's depth. Nothing more, nothing less. If his replacement comes along there won't be any tears shed for him.
Clearly he's found his niche.

Duh! Thanks professor!

So that makes him 71st best DE in the league hahaha. They moved him because of scheme not talent.

how does him not being a top 32 DT make him below average?

Cause math is hard.

You guys are ridiculous. There is 32 teams in the league. Let's say they all played a 4-3 defense (giving Alualu a break here). That makes 64 starting DTs in the league. Let's cut that in half. That makes 32. If there is 32 DTs better than him in the league that makes him BELOW AVERAGE.

See above. Then reconsider your post. Math isn't hard.
Btw idiots. If you're not even a starter on a 3-13 team... That makes you BELOW AVERAGE.

Not trying to be difficult here, but you ARE aware that teams carry more than starters on their team right?

I mean, I agree that "there is 32 teams in the league" but the rest of your math isn't logical.

you would have to consider the total amount of DTs in the NFL, if you were just doing simple math and leaving out other variables, and then he would have to fall under whatever that 50% mark is to be below average.

but its not that clear cut anyway....

What does scheme have to do with it?

So then you're saying every team in the league only plays one DT?

Just out of curiosity, how many DTs in the league are exactly average?

Well it seems like every year another team switches to the 3-4 defense. Chicago is doing it this year.
