Quote:Why would you keep calling me Jdub if I change my username? I already explained very clearly multiple times why doing so would be idiotic.

Okay, but if someone such as myself continues to be as you say idiotic and calls you Jdub, then what next?

:woot: hilarious
I am crying reading these posts. Hilarious. I think BeeJay was the best so far.

I like that one too!
Quote:I don't think you ever under think anything, but I do think you are putting a little too much thought into this... maybe it's just me, but unless I read something completely ridiculous, I don't even look who posted it... if you think people take you more or less seriously based on your gender, or even really care what your gender is in the first place, I would say you are making a mistake... at least on this board, I would hope most people who read this board just read for content, not to see who posted what.

Oh no, I don't think my gender affects how people look at me. I just think nicknames are supposed to be a reflection of who you are and shortening JaguarsWoman to Jdub takes that away.

I want full assurance nobody will refuse to call me something different before changing my username.

Now if someone is still getting used to the idea and forgetting Jdub is unacceptable, I can understand and will not call him an idiot.

I'm pretty sure you will never get full assurance that nobody here will do it.  It's yours forever....you are a valued member of this board and numerous people have told you its a term of endearment.  If you aren't willing to accept that, I'm not sure what happens here.

Trying to control what can't be controlled is an exercise in futility.

No, it is not mine forever. If I quit posting here and go to a different board, I will never be called Jdub. Only people here even know about it. If you want me to have the same nickname forever, make up a better one. If I don't like my nickname, it will not stick with me like superglue.

If it can't be controlled the reason is other people don't care about my thoughts and feelings because anyone who does would want to make me happy. I am asking everyone to explain why they want to make me mad because they like me. Is it really difficult to understand doing something to me I hate over and over is not going to make me like it? I will not become a better person by being told to accept a nickname I hate. You should know that by now.

You can't control what anyone else will or will not do on a message board, only your reaction.  Though it may be difficult for you to do, If you do change your name (Buckeye Jaguar, please please please) and you still initially get referred to as J Dub,  try to ignore it and not let anyone know how much it bothers you.  If whoever keeps referring to you as jdub no longer gets a reaction out of you, it will eventually stop.
Maybe everyone will just heade your plea to stop calling you that since it irks you so much. You can then keep your current user name and see how it goes? Since this thread is pretty long and most of the posters who call you that are probably involved in this thread, give it a couple of days to see if the "JDub" name dissapears.

I understand it can take a while for people to get used to the idea of calling me BJ (not BeeJay, please) and that is OK. It is outright refusal to change despite knowing why I changed it that would drive me bonkers.

The reason I get so worked up about this is I am afraid it will never stop if I ignore it. Why do people do stuff like this only to get a reaction from me, even though it is a bad one? Even psychologists couldn't explain that annoying behavior, so I need to ask the people who do it directly.

I will give it the rest of the season. If people are still calling me Jdub after the game in Houston, I will ask an administrator to change it.

Good luck with that.
Despite my username, I am proclaiming my new nickname to be Sally.

If I can't call you Jdub then I will call you BeeJay. In fact that is way better anyways.
If JDub changes her name, can I take over JDub's name as my name.  I kinda like JDub, but Beejay is pretty sweet too.
