we should trade bortles for one of those guys.

Taking a QB early in the first in consecutive years is unwise IMO.  Especially when every scouting report ever written on the first one said "raw." 

 

He's got major work to do.  I think a full offseason being treated as the starter will make a significant difference for Bortles.  

 

I'd take a mid round tackle and sign a FA guard to bolster the line (at least create some depth that isn't a total liability) and draft a TE before the 4th round.  Let the kid figure some stuff out. He looked bad in London - but it's still really, really early on in the grand scheme of his career.  Not time to second guess the pick yet.

I agree with you.

I only got to see the 1st half and anytime we got something going we turned it over.


Robinson and sanders with fumbles.


How did he look in the 2nd half? Was the pick he threw his fault or cecils or just good defense.


His stats looked good got 2 td drives.

now you see what happens when a rookie steps in. he just needs time. hes a rookie with an offense full of guys who are rookies.......... how does no one get that?

We were told at every opportunity that this was the case, so I don't know. I think the skill positions have been improving bit by bit all year, including today. It doesn't happen instantly.


The line had been getting better and fell off a bit today. That unevenness is what happens with 1st & 2nd year players across the board.

Not only are all three guys 10 year veterans, but Manning threw 28 picks as a rookie, Rodgers sat for three years, and Drew Brees was replaced by Flutie in '03 and the team drafted a QB in the top 5 to replace him. What's my point? Sometimes it takes time to put it all together. These are 10 year vets, Bortles doesn't even have 10 starts

AR15 has magnets in his hands...  And then he somehow get's iron filings into every NFL gameball on sunday...

 

It's the only reason he can make some of the catches he makes.

 

That 2 point conversion catch was a clinic on the perfect catch...

He looked bad in that he didn't look great

Lol... no Winston or Mariota. Bortles will be fine. Giving the circumstances... he's playing solid and he will improve.

Blake had less than 200 yds passing twice in 8 games he played in and gabbert on the other hand had 5 games where he passed for over 200 yds in his career which was 27 starts.

I wish we'd give him a jump ball opportunity on a fade route in goal to go situation. I've been waiting to see the 6'3" frame, sure hands, and 40 inch vert be put to good use. You're right though, phenomenal hands

Well we sure missed on him as a draft pick because he wasn't nfl ready like adrew luck and didn't take this young team to the playoffs. I guess he is a bust. lol.

Not sure what you mean? I was saying his decision making improved a bit. I can only remember 3 times that I thought he made a bad decision, and it's usually a much higher number.

Can we just please Sign Julius Thomas and Mike Iupati in the offseason?

Manning et all have been in the league a lot longer than Bortles.  I'd say he's probably not improving because he's got rookie wideouts out there for the most part.  He probably doesn't know what to expect of them yet.
