Lol. Saw that as the post submitted. I guess I'm not the only one who thinks that kind of contract is asinine.
There are some good points in that article, CSIII is a productive player when healthy, he showed what he can do (last Sunday) with a competent QB, he's a productive player. It's important to pay attention to the guaranteed money ($11M), I'd be all for resigning him if that were the case, the Jaguars have so much cap room.
That would be a huge mistake.
Don't do it Dave, don't do it.
That's too much, even the guaranteed money. I'm sure we could pick up someone better with a more reliable injury record for that
Does the contract come with no hamstrings attached?

That's still too much money to waste on a guy that can't seem to stay healthy.
Surely you can find a comparable wr to CS3 out there some where.

Mike Wallace got $30M guaranteed, is CSIII is healthy $11M guaranteed is nickels for the Jaguars.

I'm still laughing historically !

His health is the obvious caveat, if he can stay healthy $11M guaranteed to a player like Cecil Shorts is a steal. It's all about risk vs reward, the Jaguars have the funds to take the risk.
I wouldn't mind offering him a contract. But not that much tho. maybe 2-3 yrs 5-6 million.
Cecil would have to stay healthy the rest of the year to deserve any contract, let alone that one. How much did Emanuel Sanders get from the Broncos?

Sanders signed a 3 yr 15M 6M guaranteed deal, Shorts is the superior player when he's healthy, but again, that's the caveat.
If a dedicated Justin Blackmon comes back with his head on straight, the Jaguars will let Cecil walk without any effort to resign him. If Blackmon can't resolve his demons the Jaguars would be wise to re-up with Cecil, you need 3 good receivers these days.

I agree his health is the issue. If he didn't have constant health issues, fine.
The $11M is guaranteed.
CS3 health is not.
We all know it's just a matter of time until he misses games. It just is.

I think Sanders is the better player, but yeah, Sanders stays healthy, and he got a smaller contract than this projection.
Don't get it twisted, I like Cecil, and I think he has a lot of potential. Health has always been his issue. When he's healthy and on the field, he is a solid player that can make big plays.
