My god.. I haven't heard talk like that from anyone from this organization in years.. What a breath of fresh air. I love me some Coughlin..
Quote:

It will be interesting to see what hours Coughlin works....are we going to see the 5:30 am at the office every day?

I'm not sure Coughlin knows any other way.
Coughlin almost sounded like he was ready to jump out of his chair and run to his office to get started.  Marrone honestly sounds like he's a Tom guy.

When asked about how the interaction between Tom, Dave, and Doug would go, I thought his answer was classic Couglin; "I'll be living in their shoes."

When Mark Long asked Marrone about whether the goal was to win right away or not, Coughlin jumped in with that "What int he hell are we doing here if it's not about winning?" comment.  More vintage Coughlin, and a much needed change in mindset inside the stadium.

The comment Shad made regarding Caldwell still being in his formative years as an NFL executive was interesting.  It wasn't necessarily a shot at Dave, but it was an indication that he needed to learn at the foot of Tom for a bit to get his seasoning.

It was nice to hear "Gotta get in the tournament" line as well from Tom.  Take care of the division first, and get into the tournament.  Players better buckle up.

Quote:Man this presser got me pumped. Made me like Marrone a little bit more.
You and most of us suffered for a long time.

Your hesitation is understandable.

I'm really glad u r starting to have some hope.

(Although it was entertaining as hell to watch u go at it against us optimistic fans lol)
My comment earlier in the thread about the ringing endorsement of Bortles by Coughlin was sarcasm if any of you didn't get that.  "Bortles is our starting quarterback" didn't sound like a vote of confidence to me the way Tom delivered it.  Especially since the question that prompted the answer was essentially "what do you think about Bortles and where he is right now?"

That being said, Tom iterated that things would be kept in house so he's probably just keeping his cards close to the vest, but it still didn't sound like he's a believer to me.  Careless disregard for the football and all that.

Agreed  I think he just wanted to end the questioning before it went down that path regarding the QB or any other personnel.  Honestly, today, Bortles is the QB.  That doesn't mean that after evaluation, he will be in that position when opening day rolls around next year.

No, It wasn't a ringing endorsement. Blake will likely be the QB next season, but hes absolutely on notice and will have competition next season.

Didn't you  love Bradleys phrase "Just get better every day"?

I don't know what next season will be like but they have done a fantastic job in making me hyped up for the team again.

It got tired by the 2nd or third time he used it.
Ladies and gents that's what a front office and head coach should look like! Not this " we will look at it and see what we can do, just get better everyday" [BLEEP]!
Quote:Coughlin is doing the "owners" job because Khan does not know what he's doing when it comes to football.
That is an incredibly ignorant statement.
Good to see that they mean business

Phew... Sounds like we might be in good hands, after all...

This team hasn't understood what it takes to be successful since Coughlin left. I think he still has the fire to teach that to the coaches and players.

I'm beginning to warm up to the direction of the team.

The fact that TC shut down any talk of "competing or getting better" is exactly what these guys need to hear.
Not wanting to derail but I'm curious how much of an impact Tom will have of who we draft this April. It'll be interesting.

I bet he salivates over the possibility of Myles Garrett. I think its either Garrett, Allen or trade back. Adams is my sleeper pick but im not sure TC gives the greenlight for him at 4.
Was so busy in work I missed the presser. Seeing some encouraging quotes. Can someone give me a run down of any specifics?

This to me is by far the most exciting thing to happen to the jaguars in a long time.

I have personally never felt more promise surrounding the organization.

Seems to work out for the Pats!Or would you prefer the approach of Jerry Jones who would have benched Dak a month ago?
Quote:The confidence is Bortles is scary considering how bad he was but screw it. Give him the year on his contract to prove it and lets go. Time to win.

I still would hope they bring in a new backup and somebody to challenge him.
