Quote:Coughlin will rub off on Marrone.

Pretty sure that's an HR violation.
Quote:It looked like a good hire on December 24th.
I think most people were not happy because of Gus, that was my point.
In the interview with Caldwell after the press conference with Osher, he just didn't seem himself.  He seemed to be a little bit agitated and aloof.  He got a bit of a demotion, can't really blame the guy for taking it hard.

Quote:That was the best press conference i seen by Jags staff in a long tom. I love tht tom said it won't be easy, and he wants to bring winning back ti jvill. he also said if it was easy anyone could do it.

The fact Tom thanked the fans for thier support was awsome too. Same goes for doug saying he feels the fans pain.
Do I sense some optimism from you?

I was right with u last year at a 3 and 13 prediction.

( Actually I was 5 -11).

Let's do this shall we?

I'm saying....

9-7 and possible wild card.

What say you?

Associating Marrone with Gus (for those who did so) was a mistake  -   as their experiences in the NFL coaching world have been completely distinct from one another outside of Marrone working here for two years.  Those two years are a tiny drop in the bucket of Marrone's overall experience as a coach.

He got an extension. I dont think he was mad at all, maybe a little since he is not in full control, but he will learn from the best. Jags value Caldwell a lot, if not, he would not of been extended. Coughlin will be here to try and get this team installed with a winning culture and competing, if the team turns around quickly, after Coughlin, Caldwell can get full control again.

I totally get that. My point was I think people including myself jumped the gun a bit because we just wanted change for the sake of change. 14-48 is tough to swallow so it looked better to just clean house entirely. Obviously Coughlin thought differently and luckily they are the ones who are making the decisions.

Gotcha.

Coughlin's experience and no nonsense comments combined with Marrone's similar approach certainly feels like a very welcome change in culture for the Jags, huh?

Hard not to have a little optimism after that presser.
Quote:I wonder how Caldwell feels about being a puppet. I don't understand the point of keeping him around anymore. I guess just to do the legwork that T.C. will eventually stamp.

He's pretty much toms secretary at this point. Good for Tom on keeping him around.
Quote:I do think it can be done fast here.

-Coughlin ^
I can't watch live. But your posts have me smiling and honestly. I've had a few tears of joy...

Tyvm man. It's great to have some REAL hope.

I feel it in my bones man.

Next year? I'ma be jumping up and down when we SMASH the opponent
Quote:Im actually pretty pumped about Marrone. He seems like a no nonsense type of coach. I feel much better about him now that Coughlin was the one that endorsed him. I think most fans didnt want Marrone because of Gus, but now that the dust has been settled, it actually looks like a good hire.
Everyone has been telling you and everyone else this since he was a strong candidate for us. He is a complete 180 from Bradley.
Pwm, did you see the Caldwell interview after the press conference?

Quote:I'm told Tom Coughlin has blocked Doug Marrone from hiring Donnie Henderson 2 @Jaguars coaching staff. TC/DH had big blowup at '05 scrimmage per Alex Marvez

Oh snap
Let's go Brooklyn BBY!

We're fans of a team that is gonna make us proud BBY!
For those that think Caldwell is nothing now I'm not sure where your getting that.

Does he have final say on things? No, but if you think TC is going to be doing all the dirty work and scouting your crazy. Caldwell is still going to have a large voice in our organization, he just won't run things like before. That's Tom's job now.

I get that people are excited for Coughlin, but there are a few people here that seem to have an over the top fascination with him and anything he does or says.

Did you really think Coughlin was going to go out there today and say that Marrone wasn't a good option as a coach?  He's working with him now, of course he's going to endorse him.

Quote:Coughlin will rub off on Marrone.
Agreed 100%

I actually believe they're already close in a lot of ways.

Jesus if there wasn't hope last week...

There's dam. Sure hope now fellas! Jesus TC is da man
I agree with you C-dub, but I do think that there is a time frame where he may feel slighted for having his role slightly diminished.  He had full player control not long ago and now it's gone.

Tom Coughlin is no nonsense and this presser showed it.  He even said his wife was excited and she hasn't been excited for a while about anything.

It will be interesting to see what hours Coughlin works....are we going to see the 5:30 am at the office every day?

Coughlin has known Marrone for several years now. Coughlin is now the VP and runs all football operations. If you seriously think he had no say in the HC you're insane. He isn't going to sign on to head football operations with no say in a HC search.

Coughlin has won everywhere he's went and is highly respected/knowledeable. So yeah, of course we have a fascination with him and are going to believe in him.

Coughlin is doing the "owners" job because Khan does not know what he's doing when it comes to football.

Well yeah, but that's what happens when you're here for 4 years and don't win. He got an extension and is still in a high end front office position of one of the 32 NFL teams and has a large role. May he wish he still had full control? Of course, everyone would. Doesn't mean the guy isn't still a large voice here.
