Quote:He's not coming back this season, so no one should be holding out hope for that. The best case scenario would be him getting himself healthy and reinstated sometime over the next league year.

And why not?
Quote:And why not?

Several reasons.

1. The last player suspended indefinitely was out for two full seasons, so if that's the precedent it's doubtful that he'd be reinstated sometime this season. That doesn't even take into account his latest arrest in July for possession.

2. If he would somehow be reinstated this season, he hasn't be around the team for a year. He hasn't been taking part in team activities, he hasn't seen any new plays added to the offense, hasn't worked with any of the new players, and he likely isn't anywhere close to football shape.

3. I'd assume he has work his way back into the graces of the front office and the coaching staff. Gus and Dave haven't exactly expressed confidence in him and his return and I doubt they'd throw him on the field the minute he was reinstated. He was rumored to have been in rehab this past spring and was busted for drugs late this summer. I doubt he's going to come out of this rehab a completely changed man, so he'll likely have issues he'll still need to sort out before he even thinks about stepping on a football field.

4. If he does ever come back, the team is likely going to get some sort of roster exemption for him anyways, so I'm pretty sure they'd take full advantage of that until they're sure he's healthy.

I'd love to see him on the field at all, let alone this season, but I see no reason to believe there is any realistic chance of that happening.
Report on Espn says he's doing well. Also had comments from Bradley. For those interested.....Nevermind....Now saw the previous posts
so he's eligible to request reinstatement next month sometime?

Channel 4 also reported that B14CKMON is doing well. W/all of our WR issues of late it'll be comforting to hav a veteran presence at the position let alone the exceptional abilities that he, B14CKMON brings to the field... And that cannot be denied...

He has been eligible to apply for reinstatement for some weeks now. The rule is you can apply 60 days before the 1 year anniversary of the suspension.

I've read that the player is supposed to show compliance to the drug policy for one year before the commissioner will reinstate the him.

Given his late admission to a drug program and his arrest for pot this past summer, I wouldn't expect to see him reinstated before next season.

Good point.Being reinstated for the 2015 season would be excellent
probably better he isn't reinstated until the 2015 season. would keep his contract paused until we are in a better situation anyway.  of course I will believe he is staying clean when I see it. go longer than six months without him getting arrested or failing another test,  would be a good start.

Even if he does get reinstated, he's just going to get arrested and suspended again eventually. I don't want him teaching the young his degenerate ways. As the great Gustavo Fring said: "Never trust a drug addict."
Listening to Jaguars Today for 10-01 and this Mark Long fella just had one of the most idiotic arguments for why this teams stinks I've ever heard. His points were worse than anything I've ever seen on here for sure. Don't know how the he isn't a pr person for the team instead of an AP writer.

Interesting.

With all of the issues at WR you are somehow comforted by Blackmon? The guy that has been one issue after another for his entire career?

Makes sense.
I honestly have little hope for Blackmon coming back and playing at a high level.  I would love to eat crow because the man does have Hall of Fame Talent.  Serious head case that I hope for his sake and the team he gets it worked out.   Bortles to Blackmon has a great ring to it.

<p style="background-color:transparent;">Suspended WR Justin Blackmon is currently enrolled in a voluntary 90-day treatment facility.

Jaguars coach Gus Bradley made the revelation at his Wednesday press conference. Blackmon is reportedly about halfway through the program, and Bradley made it sound like Blackmon is doing well. Although Blackmon is technically eligible to apply for NFL reinstatement on November 1 (Week 9), he seems like an extreme long shot to play this season. Either way, it's good to know Blackmon appears to be on the right track. Still only 24 years old, Blackmon is worth keeping stashed in Dynasty leagues. -Rotoworld
This man is the truth on the field. He even had Henne looking like Peyton Manning out there throwing the ball. If he comes back next year and they get Julius Thomas and Alex Mack, it's game over. Then all you draft is defense. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=us54Xl_VCrQ

The Jags might get Alex Mack, but they won't get Thomas. He's going to resign for sure
Rumor has it Blackmon was in San Diego on Sunday to watch his QB of the future first hand

Don't see how with all those big contracts they have over there. Cant pay everybody and he's gonna want that cash. He's outta there after this season.

He'll be unrestricted after this season and I'm pretty sure both sides will revisit that contract talk again. Caldwell would be a fool not to. Bowanko is ok but he isnt gonna be labeled the best center in the game no time soon. Hell move him to left guard and tell Beadles to kick rocks.

I may be wrong, but I thought the contract we gave Mack said he could opt out after two years. He could be a free agent in 2016, not next year.

Edit: Just looked it up and the articles I saw said the above.
