The key to beating the Eagles is aggressive playcalling. I want heavy blitzing on 3rd down and not giving Foles 2 hours in the pocket to make a play on 3rd and 15 because everyone and their brother is playing in coverage.

Quote:Cmon now. We all know Henne's not very good. But, wasn't he behind Center while the Jags won 4 out of 5 games last year? You mean, they really didn't win those?

I am assuming this is sarcasm. Two of those wins were against the team that selected first in this year's draft. Or maybe I cannot shake the things he did prior to that. It takes A LOT for me to turn off a Jags game, even one I know we are going to lose. There were two games Henne looked so bad, I literally could watch no more. The better QB is on the sideline. Everyone including Gus and Dave knows it.

I hate the idea of throwing in the towel before the season even starts!  At best it's another year of mediocrity  with Henne.
Gus is just keeping it close to the vest.

He'll name Bortles the starter at noon on Sunday.
Eagles took me to the woodshed on Madden. My advice is keep running the football and no  huddle offense. Philly is quick, so stay up to their pace. I think this game could be a good shootout.

Foles gets the flu

McCoy gets the flu

Henne gets the flu

I like the way you think. The C on Henne's jersey hopefully comes with a velcro backing.
My keys to beating the Eagles on Sunday:

Jags have to score more than 30 points to have a realistic chance.

Score two defensive TD, or two ST's TD, or one of each.

Contain the TE's for Philly.

I would say sell out to stop McCoy and make Foles beat you.

Bortles won't be captain for a few years, regardless. Henne might be, regardless. (all IMO)

a few years? he will be starting next year without question

Didn't say he wouldn't be starting next year. I just think they could wait until year 3 to install Bortles as a captain.

Bortles will wind up being a captain as soon as next year.

Gotta disagree with you here TMD, Blake seems to be a natural leader, he'll be a captain by year 2.
If your starting QB isn't one of your team captains, you have leadership issues.

Agreed.  There's nothing that indicates he won't be a captain once he's installed as the starter to begin a season.  They wouldn't make that change mid-year.

Which is not the case with Bortles.

"Install" haha

The installation process for being named captain is as complicated as taking a team vote.

Well, someone needs to be proficient in counting.

Really? for his first full year of starting? I figured they'd might wait one more year and let him settle in first before throwing the captain responsibility on him so soon. I'm not saying he can't handle it or anything, Just saying that I figured they'd take that at a relaxed pace too. Is it standard for QB to be named captain that soon into their careers?

I was under the impression that yeah the team voted, but the final decision was the head coach's. Isn't that what happened a few years ago with the Peterson debacle with Del Rio?
