You sure don't follow your philosophy if you think he's so dumb. You spend the majority of your life arguing with a poster on an internet forum you don't even know. Kinda sad really. I rarely agree with him either, but judging from the amount of posts you send his way each day, you making a living out of it!

-3rd down Efficiency: Like most games this game will decided on 3rd down. This relates to T.O.P. We have to keep drives going
-Stop the Run: We need to put Phili in third and long situations. Hope the pass rush is improved and gets to the QB
I think more important than 3rd down efficiency in this game is winning first down.
I think if defensively we keep them "behind the chains" and in 2nd and 3rd and long situations, it will create problems for them and get us off the field more often.
Conversely, if offensively we can win first down, then the 3rd downs become more manageable, drives become sustainable and our defense gets the rest it needs to be effective.

Sometimes talking about these things - it's easy to say the same thing a number of different ways. (first down vs. third down)
However - it does really seem that the jags coordinators and coaches are focused on:
a. gaining yards on first down offensively
b. stopping the run on first down defensively
One wonders if the analytics dept. played any small roll in this apparent minor shift in focus.

(as a opposed to "let's limit these third and shorts defensively" they are simplifying it to "just stop the run on first down.")
The coaches are always emphasizing certain "coaching points" and these seem to be prevalent right now. They are almost always something painfully obvious, but it's a means to an end strategically.

One note about their upbeat offense is their defense will get tired pretty fast if they can't keep them off the field.

Wow I can't wait until TMD reveals what type of clothing Gus should wear on the sidelines to give the team an advantage. Should it be a suit or motivational t shirt?

Jags need to force a couple of turnovers and put together some sustained drives even when they do not score. They need to avoid 3 and outs or they could be behind real fast.
