Golden Tate is wearing # 15 this season,  after wearing # 81 with the Seahawks.   It never remotely even occurred to me that there should be concern on this end.   Then again,  I'm the antithesis of being superstitious.  

 

Detroit doesn't have a long history of WR disappointment with WR who wear numbers in the teens, Jax does.

Nate Burleson wore # 13 and suffered two major injuries in the last two years.   Rookie 6th Round pick WR T.J. Jones,  who wears # 13 with the Lions, has yet to get off the PUP list as a result of a shoulder injury he suffered at Yankee Stadium in Notre Dame's 2013 season Bowl Game.   Despite this,  I am 100% convinced that this has absolutely,  positively nothing to do with their jersey number.   If Calvin Johnson changed his jersey # to 13,  it wouldn't concern me in the least.

D6 he could wear a decimal point as you say and would be the best player on the planet.

earlier today I made a list of more than 10 players that have been disappointments at the Jags WR position that all wore numbers in the teens. 

 

Then to counter I decided to also make a list of the Jags WR that were a success while wearing the teen numbers......that total? ZERO. 

 

I understand its superstition and it could merely just be coincidence.....but it seems to me theres some bad mojo there and if I was a Jags WR, I certainly wouldn't be actively seeking a jersey number in the teens.

 A jersey number has nothing to do with success or failure unless a player is superstitious enough that it actually adversely affects his play.     If that's the case,  the player needs help.

In truth,  the WR position has been problematic for the Jaguars,  especially since Jimmy Smith's off the field problems got out of control.    How many Jaguars WR's in the team's history not counting this year's additions,   have truly had sustained success?     Only two come to mind and one of them,  Jimmy Smith wasn't able to control the urges that ended his career.
