Who wouldn't agree with this impossible scenario?
Why don't we go ahead and trade Alualu for JJ Watt while we are at it?

Quote:If Cecil is not that great and Alex Boone is a pro bowl guard who is supposedly one of the best in the NFL, then why in the hell would the 49ers make that trade?
Think about it.
Not to mention you would probably have to have a sign and trade deal when it comes to Boone.
Not only that, but the 49ers have a bunch of Cecil Shorts-esque receivers right now, Michael Crabtree, Stevie Johnson, Anquan Boldin, Quinton Patton are all virtually the same guy.

Quote:I dunno, the 49ers actually have had a pretty stout running attack over the past several seasons, and I'm sure Boone has been a big part of that.
Then why would the 49ers be so willing to let him go? If he was such an integral part of their team, I would think the 9ers would want to keep him unless something wasn't kosher.
Not being sarcastic... I really don't know much about Boone and what's going on in San Fran's camp.

Quote:The fact we are starting Henne sort of proves we are not in it to win it, so there is no advantage to keeping Shorts around.
Henne hasn't actually started yet, and I doubt he starts more than four games. So I wouldn't jump to such suppositions as "no advantage to keeping" the teams best receiver over the last 2 seasons. We don't know that yet.

I saw the trade suggested as totally hypothetical. The 49ers would not trade Boone for an average Shorts.

I think the only way the 49ers trade him is if they're blown away by the offer, which means the Jags (Imo) would have to offer CSIII+ a mid to late round pick, the Jags are obviously not going to do that, so the trade won't happen. On the contrary, it would be fantastic if we acquired Alex Boone .(straight up) for CSIII, we are talking about a team that gave up a draft pick to acquire Blaine Gabbert, so I guess anything is possible

No, and if CSIII wants Eric Decker/Golden Tate money I have a feeling he'll be playing for his hometown Cleveland Browns in 2015.

Because they desperately want a receiver who is expendable on their roster, and they want to break up their offensive line.

9ers don't need WR help.
Certainly not Shorts.
We won't trade Shorts for Boone.

If he gets that kind of money, not only will it be somewhere else, we"ll have a decent shot at a compensatory pick if we lay low in FA.

It seems like a lot of people started out saying Shorts was too valuable to trade, now they're saying Boone is too valuable for the 49ers to trade him for Shorts. Which one is it?
Personally, if I had the opportunity to make that trade, I would do it. That's all I'm saying.

Cecil Shorts has more trade value than Chad Henne (which is zero) at this point but it's not much. Getting Boone for him? Good luck.

The 49ers aren't going to trade a probowl caliber guard for an above average wide receiver.

I think thats way underestimating what Shorts will command on the market. If thats all Shorts will get then I don't think anyone would mind a re-sign. But Cooper got more than that and he's produced a single half-season of good football. I anticipate Shorts getting a contract somewhere between Cooper & Decker's money. Especially with the increased salary cap.
....and for the record I'm NOT a fry cook...thats just his little dig that he says and his minions believe as if its gospel.
