Quote:It's interesting how you're trying to defend a player who's been below average since arriving to Jacksonville. I'm not trying to be "negative" I'm just stating facts and I don't know why it bothers you so much.

You're ragging on a guy who broke his freaking ankle one quarter after they put him in his natural position. Why the rush to be "concerned" about a guy who hasn't played? One quarter of live and some preseason series with a whole new line. Clearly it's time to head up the Wells Fargo for some terminal velocity.
Quote:You sound like one of the Gabbert supporters in 2012. Oh he's sucked and shown little promise, no worries he'll be an all pro soon enough.

I don't think he's going to bust, but I don't get the feeling he's going to live up to his draft position.

I 100% agree with this claim, a guy drafted at his position that is not technically a skill position should show a little more promise even for the little time he is on the field... i'm just sayyin
Not too worried. It's early yet.  If he's giving up sacks in the reg season after week 4 or so, then I'll be concerned.

Quote:he, like brewster, need to get on a serious steriod regimen. their upper bodies look like 12 year old trannies.
That's the problem 12 year old trannies shoring up our o-line. I gotta watch more film didn't pick up on that.

Yeah, that would be bad.

So far a pretty small sample size to make a decision........how were you the first few days on the job????? Oh thats right everyone on here who is critical was perfect from day one. When ever i need a LOL and an escape from reality i just vist what certain posters have to say!
Just a general observation about players in general. Not saying anything positive or negative about Joeckel. There's a general over-reaction about players these days. Left tackles get beat by good defensive ends on occasion. Good corners get beat by good wide receivers on occasion. QBs throw incompletions and (gasp!) interceptions at times. That doesn't make them bad tackles, corners or QBs. These guys aren''t perfect and ALL of them will make bad plays on occasion.

You have to look at the overall body of work and see if they pass the eye test more often than not. I think Joeckel's done fine to this point and he's not someone I have any worries about.

He hasn't looked good in any of the preseason games. He was pretty bad at RT last season. He looked good at LT last season, but that was only a small fraction of one game. I think the concern is legit.

How long do you give him after Pasztor comes back before you start Bradfield at LT? Does Joeckel get a free pass all year because he was a high 1st round pick last year?

He looks like the pillsbury doe boy. Soft.

JagsFan32's new screen name.
I have worries about every position across the offensive line. Hopefully time will fix the woes, but the woes are many as of late.

My concerns about Joekel come from him playing in 11 games (6 preseason). What I saw while he was at RT scared me. I didn't think he looked good at all. I am in a wait and see mode because of his statement about how uncomfortable he was at RT and there isn't enough of a sample size to truly draw a conclusion about LT. I hope he turns out to be solid.

Hee has been spending more time on his butt than i would like.
Joeckel was selected by the same guy who chose Blake Bortles.

I think I'm willing to give Joeckel some time.

If just about all the OL are struggling, maybe part of the problem isn't the players.

If the two rookies are playing well, it probably isn't the coaching either.

I've seen plenty of bad
OL play the preseason turn into solid play in the regular season. We'll know a lot more when the games start to count.

Joeckle started this preseason with 2 solid games.  He had a very bad game against Detroit.  He whiffed a few times on some blocks while looking lost in others.  He straight out got beat for a sack.  I am hoping it was just one bad game and not the norm.

Linder is playing well, but who else?.....Bowanko? Wasn't his results mixed?

I'm assuming you are talking about the zone blocking scheme.  IDK if that is a problem but you need talent no matter what scheme you run.  Lets look at this line:

LT: Joeckle: Very inexperienced at this position in the NFL. He has yet to play a full regular season game in the NFL at LT.

G:Beadles: A solid Guard.

C: ? They all stink.  When a 6th round pick is being considered to start the regular season there are issues.

RG:Linider. Another Rookie

RT: Guy Whimper.

I don't think any kind of coaching is going to help the interior of the line.

I watched the replay 2 times this morning of the first 3 quarters and focused on the line. I did slow motion of each play over and over of the offense. No one is playing well!

I mean no one. Now I am no coach but we are in for a tough year.I am beginning to think Henne is not that bad its just he cannot scramble. When given time he can really spin it.

Maybe it will change but right now oh my................
