Quote:I think Monroe looked much better early on. Never got put on his keister like I've seen happen to Luke. Then again, it's still wayyyyyy to early to draw conclusions, especially considering the ankle injury.

Monroe actually took his lumps...and pretty hard at that early in his rookie year. Who can forget him coming in, first game against Freeney/Mathis and him spinning like a top against those two pass rushers.

He did settle in later that year though.
I didn't want to start a new thread just to bring up the Incognito thing..

He's available... and while I believe we're pretty set at G early in his career Richie played some C.

Could Caldwell possibly look into this guy, even with his character concerns... maybe Gus could get this guy goin.

He could be a stop gap at C until Bowanko was ready (if he isn't ready).

Thoughts?

Freeney did own him in his first game. He absolutely stonewalled him in the second game and every other time they met, if I remember correctly. Also completely blanked Jared Allen in their matchup. Oddly enough, he occasionaly got beat by some random backup, and he was pretty bad for us to start out last year. Probably knew he was as good as gone at that point. Oh well. Hopefully Luke turns out just as good if not better than him.

I doubt Incognito could come in, make a switch to center and learn a new system quickly enough or well enough to be an upgrade.

I'd much rather let the rookies start. Linder has been above-average at RG so far. (+2.1 rating at PFF)

Bowanko will have it a bit tougher -  but I'd let him take his lumps before trying to force a declining player with a laundry list of problems into an unnatural position.

I would be all for anything that would upgrade our line. Dude knows he's on thin ice, unless he's Blackmon-level moronic so he'd probably be on his best behavior.
This is me talking just to hear me talking.....

Quote:I didn't know people were that concerned about him until reading around here. Everyone saying how he keeps getting beat. The guy is basically a rookie who sat out last year. He is still adjusting to the NFL speed and getting back into game mode.
He did look bad on a few plays, but then again great on others... I totally agree with you, in that this is basically his rookie year again since I think he only had like what one game at LT before being injured last year?

I agree at age 31 if you were to bring him in I assume it would be at RG

I wouldn't be opposed to it for a 1 year provide it type deal. I think every line needs atleast one "nasty" guy on it. I would probably put Linder at C and Richie at RG.

I think it was his 2nd season on when Monroe started to stonewall guys. He played well against strong/hustle guys like Mario Williams and Allen, but he struggled against the quick twitch guys like Mathis, Trent Cole, etc..
