Quote:excuse me, but this thread is supposed to have twitter updates in it.
if you fellers want to bicker, please do it in private chat or something
thank you
as said in post 78,....anyone is free to add any twitter update.
The talk over the last 2 pages has been about the subject (Gratz) of the LAST twitter update we got on here.....so....
add one or don't complain.
Quote:lol, oh, so now Gratz is comparable to Revis'.... 'k.
INT's aren't THE measuring stick as in singular, but you do want CB that have good ball hawking skills, too. Gratz doesn't have that. Revis had decent ball hawk skills pre injury....he just didn't get many opportunities for INT once his reputation grew.
Also hilarious is that you have high hopes for colvin but he only had 5 interceptions in a total of 40 games played.
Meanwhile, looks like gratz played 50 games and had 8.
The reality is, you knew nothing about either player but made up some cockamamie impression of each player and now you have to play it out. The glorious part about it is if colvin doesn't work out, you'll prob go for the "never the same after his injury" line.
But he wasn't a ballhawk in college. That's why you hate gratz. Just admit you don't know anything about any college players.

haha, enjoy this one, and the egg on your face....
Gratz could only hope to be able to make this type of play:

So, one play where colvin isn't even in coverage is egg on my face? He literally has less interceptions per game than gratz but like I said, you made your bed and now you have to lay in it.
Either way I love Colvin and I really like Gratz too. I think they'll be a nice tandem in years to come.
Just embarrassing to see you being an uneducated hypocrite per the usual.

The one play shows the extreme athleticism, coordination and ball skills - one play or not, you cannot make that play or even come close without those 3 abilities.
Gratz will not be starting soon after the next CB is drafted next May. Try not to cwy too much.
Gratz = starting CB of the defense that gave up a franchise record 440+ points.

Just to add to the Gratz debate, He is simply "A guy". He hasn't earned the right to be a pencil-in starter but he has earned a spot on the roster as a backup.
Thank you for your objective opinion. Good to see not everyone totes the team's luggage.
I thought Gratz was ok last year. Made a few nice breaks on the ball in coverage and plays the run adequately. Im with TMD though, he's nothing special and is definitely replaceable down the line. Not a bad 3rd round pick though.
Why is there a long debate about this?
Gratz was alright as a 3rd round rookie. He can improve and develop into a better player and a good starter. If he doesn't develop or get better, of course another player may take his job. That's true for literally everyone on the team.
He played about as well as you could expect a 3rd round rookie CB to play on that 2013 team.
I think Demetrius McCray and LaRoy Reynolds have legitimate shots at becoming more than just depth guys.
My bold prediction is that Reynolds will start more games than Watson and will earn a spot to be the starting Otto for the future.
I think Gratz can grow into a solid player for the team, maybe better, but I'll stick with solid. He'll be more consistent (Hopefully) which will do I'm wonders.
But there's no telling, anything can happen.

^ this. Takes time to develop guys like this.
Quote:lol....and isn't very good and rarely records interceptions. The above description is putting lipstick on a pig. Its still a pig, and Gratz in the end still produces average at best. We added Colvin this year, who will likely take over one of the starting CB spots once healthy, and next year, we'll upgrade the other one in the draft....leaving Gratz out of the top 2 (starting CB) gig.
Are you serious? in the 8 games he started he tallied 2 interceptions, so he had an interception in 25% of the games he started, you really don't know what you're talking about lol. he was worked back slowly as a reserve in the two weeks before the bye, and started every game from the bye to the finish. The only "deficiency" id say he really has is that his speed isnt in the "burner" class, which is to say hes fast but doesnt have makeup/closing speed ala Darell Green or Deion Sanders, however this is masked by the Jags Defensive scheme emphasizing Press (where Gratz excels) and Cover-3 concepts. This isn't to say he isn't fast though since he did run a 4.44 coming out in the draft, and we do have to consider that he had a leg injury early in the year that may or may not have hampered his top gear.
Also in looking at Gratz from the time he played in 2013, I never really saw times where he got "burnt", a lot of the catches he gave up he was right there in coverage and was inches away from making the play. Take in to consideration that he was *gasp* a Rookie!! and that with more experience, being healthy during the season, and with some coaching, those catches he gave up and almost had it plays will start to have the scales tip towards his favor in his second year and going forward. He's very positionally sound as a cornerback and will only get better! I'm not saying he's the #1 corner of the future (hopefully Colvin takes that playmaker role if he still has the same kind of athleticism when he returns from ACL surgery) but as a #2 corner Gratz is moreeeeee than capable of matching up with the second option (heck even the top option against a few teams) and making plays.
TMD, do you just put every Jag players name on a dart board and choose at random who to hate on a given day when you're bored? I really dont understand how you arrive at some of your conclusions to be completely honest.
Thread was funny. Dropping Johnthan Banks made it hilarious. That dude was terrible last year.
Quote:At UCONN, Gratz was very good. Him and Blidi Wreh-Wilson made up one of the 2 or 3 best corner tandems in college football. He had one game, I forget against who, where he gave up like 2 touchdowns, but other than that he was pretty good.
Against Louisville.
I was surprised to see Gratz drafted over Wreh-Wilson but he's been a pleasant surprise. I don't understand this "debate." Gratz was a rookie corner (3rd rounder, at that) starting day 1 and held his own. Not sure what was expected of him in his rookie year but I think he has a bright future and I'm looking forward to seeing him develop.

lol you just put the nail in the coffin.
Quote:what's the use of keeping Gratz around if he's just going to get dominated by a lanky rook?
could we steal a 6th rounder for him? if not, why not just go ahead and cut bait now?
Oh my! We just drafted him?
This whole arguement is ridiculous
1. Gratz was a rookie who missed time. Colvin has yet to take and NFL snap.
2. Who really cares how someone gets beat at the first day of pads. The defense is already at disadvantage because they have not been allowed to hit up to this poiint. It's practice. Anyone can look like a star in practice. I miss the old days of training camp. Where a defender would knock a rookie out for certain plays. Sadly the NFL had gotten really soft by turning the game into basketball on grass.
Quote:lol you just put the nail in the coffin.
yeah, we'll see what Firesky's excusies are when Gratz loses his starting gig after the draft next year like I'm predicting will happen.
Colvin was part 1, next years CB draftee will be part 2, and bump average Gratz to the bench.
I love how everyone loves to talk about how some of these players "improved" in the 2nd half of the season when anyone with a functioning brain could see that the 2nd half of the schedule was easier than the 1st half and we faced many bad QB over that time....so Gratz had 2 INT vs BAD QB's wow....overall, he was nothing special at all.
I mean, with some players the improvement shown was more legit than others. So, I'm not trying to slight ALL players here, just a few average scrub types.
