He has tightness in his hamstring and is sitting out in a training camp he doesn't even need. He'll be ready to play when the season starts.
Why would you get rid of a talent that is badly needed with Lee and Robinson?

Why cut him?
It would make much more sense to have traded him last year or during the offseason if possible.
Since that bird has flown the next best option is to trade him during the season before the deadline.

Quote:Why cut him?Yes, good idea. We should trade a young veteran WR that's productive every year for us, and let Lee and Robinson carry the load in their rookie seasons...

You're crazy if you think trading him is a good idea.

Yep, let's take one of our few veterans, a stand-up hard-working guy who has yet to reach his potential, and get him off of this team. I mean it's not like our receiving corps is particularly young, or has any players out due to legal trouble. And obviously, taking away our only proven offensive threat is a fantastic way to ensure success with a bad quarterback and take coverage away from less proven wide receivers.
The guy had an injury during a meaningless part of the year. It's not that big of a deal. I swear, you guys are gonna be trying to trade Bortles if he becomes what we want him to be. "Get him out now while he has premium value!" Come on.

Has he made it through a season without a significant injury so far?
Besides that, the Jaguars aren't competitive right now. No matter how well Shorts performs during his 6 health games it won't get the team to the playoffs without a good QB. If the Jaguars could get a good pick for a guy who seems to have durability issues it'd be something that should be done.

Cut him or trade him because of injury and not production? Some of yalls is dumb. First week of training camp? Wake up please.

Who said we were going to make the playoffs this season anyways? 2015 is the mark for that.
No matter how you look at it, Cecil is a talent that you don't let go just because he had concussions and played through injuries when he shouldn't have. He's a workhorse, not his fault he was targeted multiple times because he was the only one with talent on the offense. We did this in the past, we would always let go of players with talent. You're not going to get someone better with a trade. Just makes the WR depth worse.

We never shoulda kept Fred Taylor.
Soft tissue magnet....

Actually, we should just cut Bortles and Henne. They're gonna hurt themselves in training camp next year anyways.
