He averaged almost a first down every catch as a rookie and somehow that's a bad thing? Sounds like O'Hallaran is throwing [BLEEP] at the wall hoping it sticks.
This is just the opinion of the writer. Nothing of merit IMO.

That's all he's doing. Drumming up story for the off season. He just needs to put WAY more thought behind it..

Well if you are talking about/ trying to spin a sub 10.0 YPC average as good, thats where you're wrong.

Lets be real here.

I don't think he's getting released either, but his YPC was kinda sub par.

Regardless.. 51 reps and just under 500 yards for the season, is a decent season considering not only he was a rookie last season but also a 4th round pick.

not disagreeing with that
I honestly think that Ace has a place in this offense.. And as much as I like CS3, a nice season this season and he could be trade bait with Sanders slipping into his role as a slot.

i still think Cecil could be traded but I don't think it will happen in the next two years unless Lee and Robinson just blow it out of the water. I could also see the Jags moving to a passing attack similar to the Packers were almost every receiver plays a big role.

Sanders had a role, and he filled it adequately considering the QB situation last year. He wasn't very good, but YPC are different for receivers like Edelman, Sanders, Welker, Harvin, etc. etc. because of their role in their offenses. Calling it sub par is like saying a DT should have as many sacks as a DE.

agreed... but i like having this many options...  between lee, robinson, CS3, other robinson, sanders, brown, and possibly blackmon... we have a lot of depth finally at wr... i think that blackmon returning would effect whether or not CS3 stays more than anything Lee and Robinson could do.
This flies in the face of what Sullivan has said about Sanders. Sullivan was on 1010 a month or so ago, and his remarks were the polar opposite of this speculation. Being that it was a month ago, I don't remember the comments verbatim, but he was impressed with Sanders, given that he wasn't supposed to be thrust into the role he was in last season. Sullivan said he performed above expectations of the staff because he had not been coached to be playing where he was. The intention and focus of Sanders' training and coaching was for another role altogether.

Sullivan feels once he returns to where the staff envisions him, his productivity will be far greater.

This is per the position coach, not some journalist.

fair points
He ain't going anywhere
If Sanders actually makes a huge step forward, Expect Shorts to get his decent sized contract with another team.

Tin foil hat time but imagine if the following happen:

- Blackmon makes triumph return

- Sanders makes huge jump skill wise

- Lee/Robinson perform to expectations

- Shorts traded for a 2nd or 3rd rounder

- Mike Brown becomes worthy backup status

All of a sudden we have more picks and possibly the best WR group ever in Jags history.

Outside of Blackmon, All of these aren't too farfetched either.

Ace Sanders won't get cut. His stats would look completely different if all of his plays weren't being called back on holding calls.

I've never seen a player so unlucky.

I highly doubt Sanders is cut.  Even if Doss wins the punt return job, I like Sanders as depth at wide receiver.  Keep in mind that many receivers struggle in their rookie year.  Cecil Shorts had 2 receptions for 30 yards in his rookie season.  Many people were talking about cutting him at the time.  I find it hard to believe that we wouldn't keep Sanders for another year to see if he develops.

I don't think theres any chance of him getting cut, either. (barring something unforeseen, such as flsprts conspiracy theory)

However, I think there'd be a small possibility of a trade.
