Quote:Well...the Mike Williams experience gives me concern. He may have been a bust due to any number of factors, but the year off after being declared ineligible could not have helped much.
Blackmon coming back doesn't necessarily mean getting the Blackmon we saw vs. Denver and Houston, even with reps and coaching.
There's no question that the year away from football had substantially adversely affected Mike Williams in a negative way. So much of it was because Williams lost most of his desire after signing a contract as pick # 10 in the 2005 Draft. Mike Williams is a good citizen who to the best of my knowledge was never in trouble with the law. But he was in essence a fat cat after hitting the jackpot financially. Williams rarely stayed in shape and didn't make the effort to master the finer points of being a WR.
My take on Justin Blackmon from a distance is he has more desire to be a high quality WR than Mike Williams did. Sadly, Blackmon's addictions off the field have been stronger than his desire as an NFL WR. Until / unless that changes, it's hard to imagine him lasting on a roster w/o a suspension for an entire season. Let alone for many seasons.

btw heres the blurb, per rotoworld....
<div>ESPN's Ed Werder reports the Jaguars don't plan to release suspended WR Justin Blackmon.
The Jaguars are allowed to release Blackmon during his indefinite suspension, but they have no plans to do so and want him to return once reinstated. The team has no idea if, or when, Blackmon will be back in the NFL after multiple violations of the substance-abuse policy. He's being viewed merely as a luxury.
</div>
That tells me that this whole tweet or whatever sparked this is pretty much meaningless. There's nothing new here. The team is simply saying what they have said all along.
The only thing "new" is the fact that the team is
allowed to release him during his suspension, and the team has no plans to do so at this time.
The team has no idea if, or when Blackmon will be back in the NFL...
Fans need to put the whole trade him / start him / we have a superior receiver corps out of their minds.
The only FACTS that we know right now are these.
- We have two maybe three veteran receivers returning that are pretty good.
- We have two rookies that are good prospects.
- We have a new offensive line.
- We have an average NFL quarterback leading the team into the season mentoring a rookie quarterback.
- We have all new running backs (for the most part).
The title of this post is so misleading that it's pretty much laughable.
Man I hope he straightens his life up. This WR group would be very entertaining
That's fine. I haven't given up hope on Blackmon making a return.

It's also laughable when someone says "FACTS" then uses a "maybe."
Quote:So just this little blurb "suggests" the people running this team are smart?
You have no idea how ridiculous that comment sounds.
Let's talk about clown posts, shall we?
You jump down TMD's neck every single time he makes a post.

We all know what the team will be dealing with this season. I don't believe anyone is referring to Blackmon in a 2014 sense.
The prospects for 2015 are completely different.
I don't think he will put on a jags uniform again, but I also don't see the point in cutting him.

This WR group with Blackmon could rival the Redskins Monk/ Clark/ Sanders.
Blackmon
Lee
Shorts
Robinson
Sanders
OOOOOOOOOOOOO WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Quote:This WR group with Blackmon could rival the Redskins Monk/ Clark/ Sanders.
That's a strong statement, considering McCardell was on that 1991 skins team that won the Super Bowl-though he idn't get much playing time with them.
That said, it might be true, IF Blackmon gets his head on straight and we hit on Lee and Robinson.
It would also rival the 1996 Jaguars receiving corps (Rison, Smith, McCardell, Willie Jackson).
In fact, I'll have to think about other deep receiving corps.
I can't imagine they would ever rank above Buffalo late 80's early 90s (2 Hall of Famers in Lofton and Reed, plus a deep threat in Beebe).
The Air Coryell Chargers had John Jefferson and Charlie Joiner and later Wes Chandler.
Rams had the greatest show on turf (Bruce, Holt, Az Zahir Hakim and Rickey Proehl).
AS much as id want him to return its not looking good at all. Cecil cant reach him, reports are he isnt taking the steps to reinstate, GM and HC are very gloomy on the subject and can only say "it would be a luxury" at best when questioned.
Yeah at this point id say he's done as a jag and maybe with football all together and this is coming from someone who defended him during the first suspension.
If he does return we might have the best group in the NFL as far as 5 WRs go. Shorts,Blackmon,Lee,Robinson,Sanders......lol Brady would kill one of his relatives for a WR group like that.
Jags plan to save Blackmon and eventually trade him to the Bengals or Pats for a 3rd
Quote:Jags plan to save Blackmon and eventually trade him to the Bengals or Pats for a 3rd
that seems logical. its not like he is using something easier to stay away from like cocaine. its alcohol. its at every party, every event, every restaurant. there is a whole lot more easy access and peer pressure to drink than there is for other things. it just seems like something thats too easy to slip up and fall back into, especially when he has already shown that even his career and pockets dont take precedence.

He's worth more than that to the Jaguars.
Why do you like to watch this team lose? Because that's what they'll be doing by shipping Blackmon away.

so the jaguars wont win without blackmon?
also id rather watch blackmon get a lifetime ban while hes a member of another team. hes not going to be worth anything then.

Any deal they make to ship Blackmon off will be a loss for this team.
I'd rather watch Blackmon get a lifetime ban while he's a member of this team, so I
KNOW he's not going to be worth anything then.

lol, you say that as if its a mortal lock.
Theres equally a chance that he straightens himself out and resumes his top 5/ top 10 level play. I'd rather that be for the Jags than one of the 31 competitors.

Yep.
You're talking to a Shorts' lover though. Keep that in mind. He'll probably be wishing to part with Lee and Robinson soon, once he starts to realize they are taking away Short's reps since they also are better than CSIII, just like Blackmon is/ was.
