Quote:Khan also was not sure what he had in Marrone. I will also say this. If Marrone does the same thing next week. That would be shutting down not only 2 rivals. But two Playoff chances teams. So a double spoiler.
And if Dave was to hire someone else and the new HC does not produce the same results. Dave will be fired by seasons end as well.
I disagree w/both sentiments...
First off, Mr. Khan doesn't select/evaluate the HCoaching hiring. That's what he hired a GM for per his sentiments. Caldwell hires and fires HIS HC. Mr. Khan has simply given Caldwell additional opinions to which to select from.
Secondly, if our new HC doesn't produce within his first year tenor, Caldwell won't be fired. Fired after only One Year? We gave Bradley 3.90 years to get it right and now we're only going to give the new HC one year to be successful, and if he's not we're going to fire our GM!

Quote:Is it reading too much into it to suggest Shad doesn't white trust Caldwell to select the new HC?
Nothing I've read says that Shad, not Dave, directed the retention of this firm.
If anyone has that info it would make all the bluster about trust, competence, and responsibilities in this thread something more solid than fresh, steaming bull [BLEEP].

Best cap manager in the NFL.
Thanks "BritishJag", I knew that this name was resonating but I didn't put it together until this posting to which I Agree...

Its obvious Khan doesn't trust Caldwell to hire the right coach this time, seeing he FAILED his first go around.. My question is why keep the guy if you don't trust him?
How much does it cost to say, "TC, it's yours if you want it". He does. He is the most qualified of the names being linked, a Jag at core, with the most proven record.
Quote:Source?
Come on man you know its obvious.. Caldwell wasn't a GM before he got here! This is his first time doing this and his inexperience have shown.. Hence the hiring of this firm.. I would hate to find a source.. When the writing is on the wall..
Quote:So...bluster then.
Got it.
Lol... If that's what you wanna call it. Fact is Caldwell didn't hire the right coach the first time. Now a firm is being bought in to do his job..

Yeah when I first heard the news I took it as the firm would be doing most of the vetting. Seems as though Caldwell is still in full control, they are just helping him.

This isn't about Mr. Khan "Not Trusting" Dave. It's about Mr. Khan giving Dave additional help/resources to hire our next HC...

Fact is the Bradley hire was lauded and didn't pan out. It happens, There also weren't a significant number of candidates last time and the only one who was pretty much a lock, Andy Reid, wasn't ever going to even consider coming here. Gus was the hot up n coming coordinator of the pool and was supposed to be a great choice. Didn't work out and now we move on. Adding this firm should be seen as a positive, but people with an agenda always want to make anything they do a negative. IF the Jags didn't do something like this then line would be " Stupid Caldwell and Khan don't even know enough to get some help with their search! Rabble rabble rabble." Some people just need something to whine about.

Aka you need help because I don't trust you to do it by yourself again!
What if he picked the wrong coach again? Think about that... Khan not gonna go thru another failed rebuild with this guy...

We don't even know that it's that, it could be entirely Caldwell's initiative. I hope they are all working together on this, the decision is a huge one,

Whose whining?? I'm sorry if you don't wanna read statements that are true about Caldwell.. But then again I'm not sorry.. Their were better coaches out there back then that were better then Gus, but I'm not about to go there.. Because he's gone.. My point is a real GM or hell a good Gm doesn't need all these advisors, and search firms, and people to help them do their job.. I'm not knocking Caldwell or Khan for bringing in people to help.. Its just not a good look as a Gm in my opinion...

That whole Forbes article up there is about how successful that firm and Jed Hughes in particular have been helping teams find and acquire their new leadership. It seems that this is a new standard practice, and when you consider the investment it makes perfect sense. Like I said, if they didn't do something like this we'd get a dozen Dead Zone threads about how they were teh dumbz for not doing it. But let's not let that get in the way of wild speculation, that's what we do best!
Merry Christmas to ya Yo, hope you have a great one today!

Except its already been evidenced that there are plenty of good and/or prestigious teams that did the same thing. Someone said the Seahawks with Carroll and the Michigan wolverines with Jim Harbaugh as two quick examples.
You guys are fishing for a way to make something out of nothing, but I'm not surprised because you're trying to force your agenda on others and there is no credibility to that agenda.

Maybe I was .. Maybe I'm right.. Maybe I'm wrong.. We need all the help we can get to eventually get us to where we need to go.. And that's the Superbowl.. Merry Xmas fellas..
