He didn't give 8 years to the current owner, GM or Coaches.  They owed him no 'loyalty' in the way he paints it.  On top of coming in fat (he's finally admitting that much at least) and not getting himself to a good playing weight and it all adds up to Mojo didn't paint himself in a good light to Dave and Gus.  He's essentially admitting that himself.

Mojo seems to be a little too high on himself.  I like him, I like his passion and I am thankful for all he did as a Jaguar but he sounds like a bitter little man with these quotes.  He's quickly becoming a baby.

Shut up already.
He does have the short guy syndrome.

But...he's a rich man. And the rest here?

Get to criticize him because he criticizes.

'Merka.
I didnt know he got cut, thought he was a UFA, news to me /sarcasm

Quote:Lol! This upset you guys? Smh......

I dont understand it either.

He has a right to voice his opinion just like any other player who feels they have been slighted by their former team.
He hasn't taken a single shot at the fan base.  What is the big deal?

Good grief.  Some of you are acting like you work for the team or something.

I was a huge MJD fan and I'm soured by his recent responses. He's definitely showing some immaturity that Fred Taylor would be disappointed with. As always, you just can't beat Freddy T. My MJD jersey might have to be sold or locked up for a while...

GO JAGS!!

Except he wasn't slighted...even he mentions and acknowledges a business.  He's worn out and well past his prime.  I'm going to presume Caldwell was not willing to pay anything close to what MJD thought he was worth.  Couple that with the fact that he doesn't fit the youth movement...it was time to move on.  Caldwell didn't pick him, there was no loyalty there.  I understand Mojo being frustrated with not being a Jag anymore but Caldwell was just doing his job.  I think MJD knows that...which is why I said he should just shut up and play football.

I wouldn't say many are making it a big deal.  It's a discussion topic in the dreaded down time between the combine and the draft.  There's little else to talk about.  Add this to the other quotes he's already made.  He needs to quit sounding like a rich, spoiled whine bag.

I like the guy but in my opinion he's been too much of a complainer.

Freddy T was let go too.  He was the best player this franchise has ever seen.  It was time then...and it was time now.  As is always said the NFL is a business.

In the end Mojo will calm down with his disdain for the team and they will kiss and make up.  In the mean time I wish he'd get over it though.  It doesn't look good on his part.  I hope he finds big success in Oakland.  He was a good player in his time here and deserve one more good run with a team and I hope he can stay injury free.  Getting himself back down to a reasonable playing weight would be a good start.  I'm not sure if he's accomplished that yet or not.

Ding! Ding! Ding! You my friend gets it. That's why I could give 2 craps about what he has been saying. He's basically talking bout his former bosses just like most of us do about our former bosses. He hasent dissed the city of jacksonville or the fans. When he does that maybe I'll join the I hate MJD and the things he say club. And please stop saying well Freddy would never do this.. Who cares... He's MJD and he's Freddy T. Season please hurry up cause folks are reaching hard round here...

Quote:This whole "chip on the shoulder" thing he uses to motivate himself was cute when he was a rookie, but at some point he needs to grow up and accept the reality that this is just a business.  If the team wasn't loyal to him, his little holdout a couple of years ago would have been the end of things.  They let him throw his tantrum, and then let him come back to work, paying him handsomely in the process for nothing but injuries and less production. During that time, not once did the team take any shots at him.  They understood it was a business decision to hold out, and they also knew they had the upper hand.  They showed class.  He's shown not so much.

He started showing his classless side during the NFL lockout on his radio show on Sirius NFL radio. The vitriol that was spewed by he and DeMaurice Smith was some of the most classless stuff I've ever heard. I always enjoyed watching him play and cheering him on, but during that radio gig the bloom came off the rose for me.
I kinda knew that chapter was coming to a close ever since The Conch House..

We also have a right to voice our opinion, yet it bothers you somehow..

hmmm...
Reading some of this, he sounds like a jilted lover.

I don't mean that as an insult either, it really does sound like he was hurt by being let go. He understands its a business, he knows how things are, yet he cant help being angry. It shows he cared.

If what MOJO said bothers some of you...then he's not the problem...

I think he knows why the Jags did it, but he's still bitter that it happened. Sort of like getting over an ex-girlfriend.

Loyalty can only go so far, and I think he knows that too.

He wasn't let go. His contract was done.
Quote:I just dont get his line of thinking.  We drafted him and then made him one of the highest paid running backs at the time.  If anything, he didnt live up to his contract those past two years.  He doesn't deserve to be in the Pride.

Always the victim, Maurice said this.

"It's a business, and they're moving in a different direction, and I get that," Jones-Drew said. "Players are asked to be loyal, but the team has never been loyal to you. I led the league in rushing, my foot breaks and I come back out of shape to do the best I can to help the team.

"I gave them eight years. And then they just wash their hands of you."

Everyone has their own perspective, and you can't fault Maurice Jones-Drew for speaking how he felt on it.  You can disagree with him, call him a baby / whiner / always the victim kind of guy, but I dont fault him for experessing how he feels.

When he lobs digs at the franchise that made him one of the highest paid players at his position, fans are going to take that personally.

I don't see how anyone could blame fans (especially those like you and others that have been season ticket holders for many, many years) for taking a bit of what he has said personally.  Fans have a lot invested in teams, whether it be money, time , emotion or a mix of the three.  It's part of being a fan of the team.

Mojo is taking small shots at a team that by all accounts was loyal to him.  We don't know the inside goings of the team and their relationship while he was here but he was paid handsomely in his time here.  The last two years his production dropped, he was injured, yet you didn't see the team telling him to take a pay cut or take a hike.  They paid him the contract the team and Mojo agreed to.  The Jaguars also chose to pay him very well when he signed the deal prior to being a true feature back.  The team gave him what was starter money at the time for a guy that had yet to prove he was able to carry the load as a starter.

I agree with what others are saying that Mojo is likely just bitter over what happened and agree he cared about being a Jaguar...but he's going about it in the wrong way in my opinion.  If he wants to voice his opinion then so be it but it doesn't mean I have to agree with that opinion.  Thus far I've seen nothing from Maurice that would lead me to agree with him that he was "jilted" or "done wrong" by the team.
