Quote:Regardless of what was said by MJD, our fanbase can become a little jaded at times, especially after a player is released, traded, or signs elsewhere. This was also the case with Mr. Fred Taylor upon his subsequent release from the Jaguars, a lot of belly aching and whining about frankly nothing. MJD is easily a top five player of all time for this franchise, but with the responses in this thread you wouldn't know that without intimate knowledge of the Jaguars.

Case in point; go read the Russel Allen released thread and then read the real reason Russel Allen was released. Some of you act like witch doctors to say the least

I don't want to turn this into a top 5 debate, but my top 5 are:  Tony Boselli, Fred Taylor, Jimmy Smith, Kennan McCardell, MJD/Brunell.  Not sure who would make that fifth person.

As for Russell Allen.  He is a fringe player that would have provided great depth at the linebacking corp.  He stepped in and had to start, but that was obviously a position on the team that needed some major upgrading.

I think that MJD is a great player, did some great things in the community....but if he keeps saying how the Jags treated him unfair, dont expect any pity from me.
He went from bowling ball to meatball.. Allegiances should be to the organisation, not the player.. He got his money and will live well for the rest of his life unless he's financially stupid. He went to the retirement home for the NFL.. I'm pretty sure he's bitter because he knows this..

Exactly.  He certainly didn't show the team much loyalty by showing up fat and out of shape.  Yet he expected them to show him respect, and offer him more than league minimum in return.

He is indeed bitter because he's discovered what his market value is, and it's not close to what he was expecting.
"But im MJD, im great!"

The showing up late party doesn't bother me as much as when he sat out two years ago.  I just felt it was a slap in the face to the organization.  They gave him a huge contract, then when others passed him he wanted more.  Then he turns around and wants to talk about loyalty.

Life moves on, people will forget about what he said.

I actually have a different perspective on the holdout.  I think the mistake he made was not sitting out, but how long he did so.  When it became abundantly clear the team wasn't going to budge, he should have taken that as an opportunity to say he'd made his point, and that he was coming back.  He didn't.  He let it linger despite the fact that the owner, GM, and coach all said they weren't going to revisit his contract.

Had he swallowed his pride and come back to work without making the team wait, he probably would have seen more good will from the team on the back end, although I still think they probably would have ended up where they are today.  The team was never going to match his salary demands, and letting the market make that determination was the smart move for the organization.

Regardless, MJD is now a Raider.  He can whine all he wants about how he was done wrong.  In the end, the Jaguars were extremely generous with him.  Hopefully he comes to that realization at some point.
Quote:Not sure what one has to do with the other. Brunnell received a ton of crticism, so much so he issued an apology (pretty much).
My point was that Mark actually dissed the team, city & fans(what most are upset with MJD for). MJD did neither. He's just biter towards shad, Dave & Gus decision to move in another direction at RB. People were saying he dissed the team that's why they took it ''personal''. Just giving an example what dissing the team really is. And I know but but MJD held out and y'all still upset bout that lol smh.....

Who are you? MJD's agent? Of course people are gonna be cheesed off at him. He's been a selfish meatball, pushing 30 and held out for more money on us. This franchise has given him everything and he's a complete meat-hose about it. Send this midget to Oakland in a ribbon.

Once his spirit is broken and his reputation is ashes, he has our permission to retire.

Where did I say I agreed that he was done wrong? Im simply laying out info to why I dont see his comments as dissing the team, city or fans and a reason to be upset. I know but but MJD said this.....

If MJD says he was done wrong by the franchise, you don't think many fans will take that as a slight?  I don't see anyone saying he dissed the fans.  He dissed the team these people are fans of. It's really not that difficult to understand why people would be upset.

People aren't upset about him "dissing" the city.  They think he's a whiny baby.

I really don't care about the hold out. He didn't handle it well but whatever. I just think the sour grapes whoa is me act is tiresome to jag fans.
Quote:No it was clear, and you're making it more hilarious. I wasn't helping him, I was helping you.

I thought it was a little obvious, but the dawg took the bait.
So the "D" in MJD stands for Dangerfield?

Or MJD as a whole could stand for Misguided Jaguar Donated
The Ballad of the Aging Running Back is a wretched song, with each forlorn verse added by past their prime running backs in denial, who swear they still have it, but each despairing verse ends the same, with a broken down runner fading into the oblivion of obscurity while struggling to break 400 total yards for the season, despondently watching the game they love pass them by.

MJD started writing his verse last year, and will probably add finish verse at the end of this season.
