If if if.   We're getting all negative about stuff we're totally speculating about.   We don't know what kind of data Tony provides.   We don't know how Bradley used it.   It just seems like since Gus is gone, some of us have decided to turn our criticism to the owner's son.   That is stupid and foolish.
Quote:I have no doubt Tony has input, the quotes Homebisket and others have posted prove it from Dave's mouth. He is the owner's son of course he will have input if he

is wants, and he does want to be involved. Tom Landry did "analytics" decades ago, but he also tempered those numbers with Football knowledge. I don't know how much football knowledge Tony has,

is he a 10 year fan, a 20 year fan of the NFL? Plus we have zero evidence any trends he finds are worth a damn and have worked before. It's not like his programs

have produced a winning team. So the stuff he presents may be absolute garbage. That is concerning, but what can a fan do, the owner's son is going to do what he wants. I just hope he gets better at dissecting the trends that are relevant and does not interject and override the people who have done the job for decades. Also someone like Coughlin would not put up with it for a day, so it may make the candidate pool of coaches smaller. Nobody wants the owner's son giving them binders of team's tendencies every week. Maybe a small summary notebook. It's all a matter of how much he intrudes. That's the case with a lot of owners.

So, to sum up, the team isn't winning, so the data Tony provides MIGHT be "garbage," therefore, you hope the next coach doesn't pay any attention to the owner's son?

You guys are totally speculating out of your behinds, and the result is that you have a thread that criticizes the owner's son.  That is a dumb thing to do.

You hope he gets better?   You hope he does not interject and override people?   You have absolutely no facts to indicate that he interjects and overrides people.  You don't even know what information he is providing, other than the fact that he crunches numbers and provides data to the team.  In short, you have no basis to criticize the guy.   You're pulling this all out of your behind.

It's like some of you guys are still angry and frustrated, but the coach is gone, so you need a target for your anger.  So, how about the owner's son?   He might be a spoiled rich kid.  He might be influencing the team.   He might be one of the reasons we are losing.   It's all just coming out of your [BAD WORD REMOVED], because you have no facts behind this other than our record of 2-12.

This is just my opinion, guys, but criticizing the coach or the GM is one thing, but attacking the people who control where the team is located is quite another.

I figure all that analytical analyzing works like this:

If the team wins, then there is an advantage to using it because it seems to work.

If they lose, It doesn't appear to be working, at least not yet. Maybe it will be able to analyze enough data to be used successfully sometime in the future, but we just aren't there yet.

Too much information is bad if you're a [BLEEP] idiot.
Now that gus is gone.....it seems like some folks are just looking for new targets.

lets just get back to these last two games and seeing how things go.

Then we have our coaching search, his staff building and the draft.

Any methodology is only as good as the feedback mechanism.  That's what ensures what you're using as guidance has a meaningful, positive impact.

Analytics alone are not the answer.  It's only a single tool in a much larger toolbox.

It seems we've got the data, but just haven't figured out exactly how to put it to best use.  That, of course, is the most important part of analytics of all (aside from ensuring data integrity itself.)

Obviously, we have no idea exactly what is being provided, or to what extent they are being used. We have had a few examples though. When Joeckal was the pick, Tony tweeted out the whole Blaine Gabbert stat and his QBR(?) when he gets protection as a justification to have two good tackles. When Sample was drafted, he tweeted out numbers that Sample is one of the highest (if not highest) rated coverage safety in the draft. When Yeldon was selected, he talked about his short-yardage/goal line effectiveness.

Well, Luke has failed. Sample has always been hurt, and Yeldon couldn't get goal line carries ahead of Denard and the team spent money to bring in Ivory to do something which according to Tony, was something TJ excelled at.
The Alfie Crow type and his crew love to go on attack mode.  Of all people within the Jaguars organization that don't deserve to be publically ripped apart, Tony Kahn would be it.  He seems to be a nice guy and has never been rude or attacked anyone, but you will always find those out there that just have to blame and attack.  It's the same type and the same group every single time.

It's OK to be critical and question what we do with analytics, but the way Tony was attacked on Twitter is embarrassing to the fanbase.

We have no idea what data is used, or how they use it. There is nothing incriminating about a notebook full of facts and figures. The best coach in the business uses analytics, Bradley would have been crazy to ignore them.
